Prince George B.C.- As world leaders gather in Copenhagen to talk about an action plan to battle climate change, Prince George residents are being invited to take part in a candle light vigil.
The event is set to start at 6:00 p.m. Friday at the Civic Centre, and will see candle carriers walking to M.P Dick Harris’s Constituency office on Quebec Street.
The vigil is also a friendly competition with the folks in Smithers to see which community can attract the most participants.
The vigil is one of hundreds being held around the world as a project called “The World Wants a Real Deal” organized by www.350.org . The campaign calls for world leaders to create a climate agreement that lowers the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million, which is the mark scientists say is a safe limit.
Anyone wishing to attend the event is asked to bring their own candle and candle holder.
