The Prince George Cougars allowed three goals in the second period and could not recover in a 4-1 loss to the Tri-City Americans Wednesday night.

The Cougars were looking to bounce back from a 3-0 loss to Spokane Tuesday night, but were without both Marek Viedensky and Brett Connolly for the second straight evening.  The Americans came into the game with the best record in the Western Conference, with 21 victories on the season.  Alex Wright was back in goal for the Cougars and looked sharp in the first period.  Wright got in front of 13 of 14 shots in the opening period.  The only blemish was a goal by Justin Feser on the power play at 15:51.  The Cougars fired six shots at Americans starter Drew Owsley in the opening frame.

In the second period the Americans got a two goal lead at the three minute mark on a goal by Brendan Shinnimin, his 18th marker of the season.  The Cougars cut into the lead at 4:23, when Alex Rodgers notched his seventh goal of the season and first on the road to make it a 2-1 Tri-City advantage.  Broch Hirsche and former American's forward Spencer Asuchak earned assists on the Rodgers goal.  Brooks Macek gave the Americans a two goal lead again at 6:35 and Shinnimin got his second of the night at 13:27.  Shinnimin's power play goal put Tri-City up 4-1, which they would take to the dressing room.  The Cougars out-shot Tri-City 13-8 in the period.

There was no scoring in the third period as the Americans cruised to a 4-1 win, out-shooting the Cougars 11-6 in the third and 33-25 in the game, the second consecutive night the Cougars have been out-shot by that margin.  The Cougars went 0-for-3 on the power play while the Americans went 2-for-7.  Cougars defenceman Garrett Thiessen took part in two of the three scraps in the game and Daniel Medland-Marchen also dropped the gloves.  With the loss, the Cougars fall to 5-24-1-1.  The Americans improve their record to 22-8-0-0.

The Cougars remain in the state of Washington for a Friday night tilt with the Everett Silvertips, before wrapping up the five game road trip in Chilliwack Saturday night.  The next home game for the Cougars is Friday, December 18, when they face the Kamloops Blazers.  Fans will have a chance to help support the Prince George SPCA by bringing pet supplies to the game.  The following night, the Cougars will play their final game before the Christmas break, as they face the Blazers in the annual Teddy Bear and Toque Toss night.  Puck drop for both games is 7:00.  Tickets are available by calling Ticketmaster at 250-564-5585

Does anyone care anymore?
Nope. Hopefully they can still get a few people out for teddy bear toss though. Be nice to see local charities still benefitting a bit at Christmas time...even though the team blows chunks!!

I suppose a half-full Multiplex is about the best one could hope for...considering it's only a quarter-full most nights.
Disheartening for the coach and players. Nobody likes to lose. A management change at the GM level is long overdue.
An ownership change is needed.. Brodsky is the problem. Sell out and give us back our team. We have had lots of great players and coaches. They are not the problem. It starts and ends in the front office. Fog must be thick in there. Everyone else can see the problem, except the Brodsky Group. SELL>>SELL>>SELL.
He's simply keeping his daughter and son-in-law employed as they likely couldn't get work elsewhere.

A few years ago, a group that included Dan Hamhuis tried to buy the team from Brodsky and he turned the offer down even though the team was losing money.
Hey now, Brandi Brodsky does a good job. It's the GM who has to go.

The owner won't change, forget about that. It's Rick Brodsky's team and he's not going to sell.
Brodsky is the problem. Not only is he clueless, he is also cheap. Pretty hard to hire top notch managment tallent if you only pay pennies. The best would be if he would sell (it will never happen) or move (and perhaps we could get a franchise). Until then, go see the Kings!
Why see the Kings? They aren't any better.
With the Kings there is hope that one year we can have a winning team. With the Cougars there is no hope.
I'm not sure what you base the Kings hope on. They haven't been successful in a long time. They got a free pass into the Royal Bank Cup tourney a couple years ago, but other than that, they haven't achieved much.
Even though it's been a while, the Kings do have banners hanging from the roof. After 16 years the Cougars only have cobwebs up there. Different players, different coaches, different scouts.... one GM... same results. Hmmm.

I take back my comment about Brandi btw... you're right she does do a good job. I was attempting to make a back handed comment at Dallas' lack of ability, and got carried away.... pre-coffee cranky.
