Since this global warming thing has been disproven, I would like all my money back from the carbon tax the government has imposed on me.

http://www.nationalcenter.org/Climate-Gate.html
Good luck with that, ever seen a tax introduced go away? They'll just name it something else. Wait till the liquor taxes double.
"Since this global warming thing has been disproven"

You know something we don't?

Who is Dr. Tom Wigley Butt?
From the linked site:

Bottom of the page

"Similarly, Dr. James Hansen of NASA, considered the father of global warming theory, said that Kyoto Protocol "will have little effect" on global temperature in the 21st century. In a rather stunning follow-up, Hansen said it would take 30 Kyotos-let me repeat that-30 Kyotos to reduce warming to an acceptable level."

The question which this fellow addresses is what will it take to turn global warming around, not whether global warming exists. By doing that, he acccepts that it can be turned around buy a change in human activity.

As I said, your premise that global warming has been disproven is false.
Here's a thought on the HST...

When Newfoundland harmonized their taxes they lowered their PST by 4%

Nova Scotia...by 3%

New Brunswick....by 3%

Why??....of course to try and mitigate effect that consumers could feel from the HST..

That make sense I think..

B.C, to follow...???
Beware commuters on Foothills. Instead of using the Hart, loaded logging trucks are using Foothills from Chief Lake Rd, bypassing the brake check. Yesterday one actually pulled in then right back out after I went by, probably thought maybe I was DOT.
Are loaded logging trucks actually allowed on Foothills Blvd? I agree with acrider -- lots of them don't even stop at the brake check and proceed down the hill at 50K. Does anybody know?
Gus how do you know that man has caused any warming of the earth?
I was following a loaded logging truck on North Nechako from Foothills this morning and was wondering the same thing; are these roads meant for them? Forget the 50K doc; these guys don't slow down when they're on the hill.
Logging trucks have used North Nechako Road and Foothills to bypass the scales for over 15 years that I know of....I would bet that most if not all are seriously overloaded as well...
What's the super sexist, Swimsuit girl of the day, about? Rating a woman, based on the size of her boobs etc? I don't see any partially naked guys. Why is that?
How shallow do you think guys are? We of course rate them on their smile, hairstyle, and colour of swimsuit! :)
Shouldn't a loaded logging truck be crossing the Hart scales on the way into town from the Chief Lake Road area? Using Foothills imho constitutes bypassing the scales, which contravenes the motor vehicle act for commercial vehicles. I was once threatened with a fine by a scale officer who pulled me over, for not stopping at the scales; I was towing a heavy duty car trailer that had a commercial license plate.
metalman.
Just park A DOT officer in one of those CVSE vehicles at Foothills and Chief Lake roads and then all the logging trucks will go down the Hart.

Too simple of a solution, so it will never happen.
I believe loaded logging trucks are exempt from the scales? I'll try to look it up. I believe a few of the loaded logging trucks would fail a road side inspection though.
I think there is a sign at the top of Foothills saying it is limited to 100% of legal axle rates. Beyond that, as long as they are not overweight I dont thik there is anything illegal about coming down Foothills.

Does anyone know what can be done to get the Tim Hortons on Victoria drive through fixed? The lineup was so long this morning that traffic was backed up waiting to turn off of Victoria - in other words, our provincial highway / dangerous goods route is being blocked by people who cant get out of thier car to get a coffee?
"Are loaded logging trucks actually allowed on Foothills Blvd? I agree with acrider -- lots of them don't even stop at the brake check and proceed down the hill at 50K. Does anybody know?"

Not much of a surprise! I have seen several loaded logging trucks making a detour from the Hart Highway through South Kelly Road, then via Highland Drive to Foothills to continue south!

Obviously they are avoiding the brake check altogether by doing this! Other trucks (low beds hauling heavy machinery etc) are doing the same, it's happening every day!

Anything goes, apparently, even thundering down residential streets (posted at 50km/h) at 75 clicks or more!

As for an RCMP presence - they are too busy.
How about those Canfor pulpmills in town getting a $122 million handout from the government [taxpayers loot] and then turning around and telling the junior employees that they will not be allowed to work on the Christmas stat holidays???

Merry Christmas boys...nothing like taking a gift with a smile on your face and a knife in the other hand.
Maybe the carbon tax was imposed to help pay for something big. Maybe it wasn't meant to actually be an environmental tax..
You mean something like the 2010 olympics??Or perhaps they want to axe a few top honchos and need the extra cash for excellent severance packages??
"How about those Canfor pulpmills in town getting a $122 million handout from the government [taxpayers loot] and then turning around and telling the junior employees that they will not be allowed to work on the Christmas stat holidays???"

The $122 Million was to be earmarked for facility improvements, not to overpay a bunch of people to sit around on Christmas day.
Jim - I don't think the 122 million dollars was given to CPLP so they can pay wages (at least I hope not!). Telling the junior employees to stay home on Christmas should be a good thing (Why would anybody want to work on Christmas day while everyone else is at home with their families??). Oh yes, the double time, 12 hours off in lieu....

If I'm not mistaken these junior employees still get paid stat time for Christmas. Nothing like getting a day off and getting paid for it!! Sounds good to me.
Earlier this week there was an exclamation on the front page of the Citizen. It was the Grand Poobah of the Sally Ann saying, "Thank you , God" (for the semi trailer of food delivered.) Methinks his thanks was a bit off centre. Unless God is Jimmy Pattison or any of his lower minions. Who were directly responsible for gathering up the goods and then delivering them. Maybe God put a bug in ol' Jimmy's ear? Charity is nice. Kind of a hat trick in itself this time of year. Good public relations, corporate responsibility and a early nudge to the future Walmart supermarket. God willing, (pardon the phrase) maybe both stores next year can have a competition to see how generous they are. Don't get me wrong. When our mosque is built we maybe will have to thank Allah also. But I digress. I am quite sure a lot of Wiccans, atheists, agnostics and humanists shop at the Save-On Food group, but I will imagine they will give short shrift to some one who connects "divine intervention" with their supermarket, I myself don't really thank God for my full shopping basket. I kinda thank God for my CPP for being able to buy those groceries. So in sum, it all kinda works out. Don't it?
""If I'm not mistaken these junior employees still get paid stat time for Christmas. Nothing like getting a day off and getting paid for it!! Sounds good to me.""

Sure they get 8 hours of stat pay at their card rate [up to $3hr less than what they are usually paid per hour]......instead of 12 hours pay plus stat premiums for doing the jobs they do every other regular work day. In this day and age young families don't need to have their incomes arbitrarily cut back, without even taking the stat premiums into account they are being kicked in the teeth at Christmas.
And by the way, it's not just one day...it's five days that are being affected...a minimum of 20hours of pay being lost. A nice christmas present from a profitable corporation.

""The $122 Million was to be earmarked for facility improvements, not to overpay a bunch of people to sit around on Christmas day.""

Now you sound like someone who owns CPLP shares?? And by how much will that $122 million will improve the profits?? I don't think it was meant to pad the pockets of high rolling share holders either.
Yeah you still get paid for stat holidays even if you're not working. That's the point of them.
I have to agree with diplomat that the RCMP are too busy......as on Tues. at 2:45 three police cars patrolling in front of the Middle School on the Hart ,getting parents not to park in front of the no parking signs although they are only there for a few min. picking up their kids. Important stuff ah!
Did they tazer any soccer moms ervboy?

I imagine that they were there for reasons other than parking enforcement. What surprises me the most is that they actually know where the Hart is.
"Now you sound like someone who owns CPLP shares?? And by how much will that $122 million will improve the profits?? "

No, I don't own shares. And maybe you can explain how paying people handsomely to sit on their butts on Christmas day improves profits?
Jim - I suppose if one crew is working all the stats, they will be affected in a loss of what they would 'normally' earn. Does one crew work all the stats? However, they still get a paid day off! Lots of people are getting numerous days off without pay.

Now, if the stats fall on their day off, they get to bank those stats and use them at their will (time limit is imposed). These stats also increase the normal hours worked in a week which means they get paid 1/2 time for hours over their normally scheduled work week. Maybe these guys can give their earnings to the guys that are 'losing' money because of the stats. Better yet, donate it to the people who are out of work....

Just for the record, I am not a CPLP shareholder.
Lets turn that canfor thing around. What would the posts be like if they forced all their employees to work on Christmas day?

I don't see what the problem is here. A paid day off. The self employed don't get those. Correct me if I am wrong but don't most working for CPLP make a decent wage? Isn't loosing $24 on your normal wage to stay at home and celebrate with your family worth it? Don't forget there is a net gain as far as your bank account is concerned. I want a job that does that 5 days of the week. Please explain your position so that I can understand.

Last thing, I have said it before and I will say it again. If the company you work for isn't profitable, start prepping your resume, they won't be in business for long. Simply stated: Profit = Job Security.
Actually CPLP does not have any money from the government YET. They are just ELIGIBLE. They must get approval from the government to spend the money on Green Energy/ Enviro type projects. If it does not meet gov't specs no fund provided. Also if it is not spent in 3 years.....its GONE!
Seriously? People are out of work, losing their homes, trying to find a way to just get through the holiday season and people are complaining that they aren't allowed to work Christmas day and earn double and triple what they normally would? They just get a day off with regular pay? Gee, that sure sucks!
Give me a break.
So I wake up this morning. I ponder and come up with all kinds of thoughts that make me want to go back to bed.

-Prince George is one the highest taxed cities in BC and spends the most money.
-BC has the highest drinking problem and increasing taxes is the answer even though we already have the highest priced alcohol in the world.
-BC has the highest child poverty.
-Canada is one of the worst polluters and should give more GLOBAL TAX to the new world order (ooops I mean Kyoto)
-PG City is already spewing that they have to increase water, sewer and garbage this year when less than 7 months ago they did just that. Along with 7 % increase in our taxes and another 7 % for regional district.
In July the HST will kick in because BC'rs are wimps who hold their butts up and take it without a squeak.
Shortly after the HST the Carbon tax increases to 7%.
The spending spree total for the Olympics is still a secrete.
The deficit for BC is almost 5 billion dollars.
The deficit for Canada is over 500 billion dollars.
-No raise again this year due to the recession.
-Gas in PG is still the highest in the region.

Back to bed now.
Holy.....

The dispatcher is going to be busy today....

That is a lot of Whaaambulances I have to call!

Good to see they are still plowing out all of the streets for the non-completed neighborhood along Tyner.

The two partially completed houses there certainly need access. Although there is still a motorhome parked up there, so perhaps they actually are being used...
Amazing we are getting totaly screwed by the Campbell government, with HST, carbon tax, huge subsidies to private enterprise for windfarms and hydro developments, huge bonuses to corporate ceo's. With that all people on this site can do is argue about some overtaxed soul working Xmas or not, amazing.
Amazing we are getting totally screwed by gravity, with people falling down, things sagging, landslides, rain, etc etc. With that all people on this site can do is argue about partisan politics. Amazing!

People, including yourself, have the right to rail against whatever crap they want to waste their time railing against. Who are you to judge?

Please sign the petition against gravity at: www.stopthesagging.com. Will it actually help? No. Is it just as good of use of time as sitting on ones butt railing against things like limited overtime and politics, rather than actually trying to do something about it? Probably.
"The spending spree total for the Olympics is still a secrete."

That gets my vote for typo of the day!
"The two partially completed houses there certainly need access. Although there is still a motorhome parked up there, so perhaps they actually are being used..."

Interesting observation. I noticed some motorhomes up there as well and it looked like they were being lived in. Maybe it's the landowner?

Does anyone know the story behind those homes? I heard somewhere they were condemned, but that was just speculation.
After watching my garbage being picked up, and if Hizzoner Dan is reading this, he can think about having our garbage trucks modified so instead of picking up the plastic can, the truck can pick up individual taxpayers and turn them upside down and then give them a few shakes. That would easily empty the pockets of said taxpayers more efficiently.. Might save a bit of paperwork too.

LOL

I fought against the forces of nature and managed to click the right keys and...

Harbinger! Now that's funny, thanks for the laugh.
Loaded logging trucks are required to stop at all weigh scales, empty logging trucks are exempt.

Lakeland Mills gets all their wood from the Chief Lake area. With the Cameron Street Bridge now complete and open it is the most direct route to that mill and passe through the least amount of the general public going that way. By using Foothills Boulevard truck are able to avoid costly stops and starts at the numerous traffic lights along the Hart, as well as shortening the distance they travel.

Yes, any loaded truck is required to stop at all authorized brake checks. I havnt been by the area in question by the Hart Dump for awhile, is it still a posted brake check area?

A little trivia for all the whiners, North Nechako road, which is now restricted from heavy traffic froom Foothills Boulevard west, was originally the Takla Forest Road and was so for over 40 years before it became a popular place to live. If you follow the route of the former Takla Forest Service Road you would see it is the most direct route from the Chief Lake area into the mills.
By the way, all the people whinning about potential truck's bypassing the scales, where were you all the years that scale had been closed? Will you be demonstarting to keep it open after the new one south of town opens? It will close permanently the day that one is open.

Did you also know that the Hart scales can not give a ticket for overweight to a tridem axle configuration because the scale pad is so out dated that it is to short to give a proper scaling?
Quit whining Tom
call the CITY to complain about the trucks on foothills. They are the ones to deal with that as it is a city street not hyway.
"Good to see they are still plowing out all of the streets for the non-completed neighborhood along Tyner."

I noticed that as well. Perhaps the developer is paying for it. He would be paying taxes for the budivided properties, so maybe the city covers it.

"The two partially completed houses there certainly need access. Although there is still a motorhome parked up there, so perhaps they actually are being used..."

The motorhome is occupied by security. I believe the broken windows have been fixed. A case of builders overextending themselves, it appears.

The company wanted us to work on Christmas and New Years which we never did in the past[except in steam plant]....so that they could be more profitable....they negotiated with the unions to work 365 days a year with no work interruptions...now they want to go back on that and not let the junior employees work on those days. The lost income will happen on Christmas eve, Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Years eve and it amounts to a lot more than $25...and we only recognize three other stats, Easter Monday, July 1st, and Labour Day...

AND for those of you that think all pulpmill workers do is sit on their ass I invite you to come in, put on your gas mask and shut off a chlorine dioxide leak sometime...you'd piss your pants...and maybe appreciate how some people will put their lives at risk to stop the city from getting gassed out.
It's almost midnight.

Happy Third Advent .....
