You go RCMP...
"Impaired Driver Crackdown Nets Results"? 2 impaired driving charges, and 14 other individuals having their driving privileges suspended for 24 hours. All this since Dec.1, 2009? Hardly sounds like a crackdown. The drinking establishments all over town, have their parking lots full of vehicles most nights. But come closing time, the vehicles mostly vanish. They all had a designated driver, right? I say BULL$#!+!!!

I haven't seen a road check yet, have you?? Watch out for a "Tim Horton's Drive Through Road Check near you"
I tell ya, that Tim Horton's reference never gets old. It is funny every single time.
I know the RCMP are doing the best they can, with the resources we allocate to them. I am glad to see they are having some results. Frankly they are probably quite busy dealing with domestic disputes and crime that this downturn in the economy has caused. I certainly do not want to have to pay for dozens of extra officers to do checkpoints.

So everyone get a cab, get a designated driver, call operation Red Nose, and lets all have a safe holiday season. Remember Cabs and designated drivers are a good idea all year, so get in the habit! When I hear on the radio, “that alcohol may have been a factor”, there is little doubt in my mind that people have died because someone didn’t call a cab.

Perhaps if we gave out less roadside suspensions, and had more vehicles confiscated, these people would not be driving drunk. But the lack of deterrent from our justice system, with their catch and release program, is a story for another day.

Happy Holidays to everyone!
We are not to drink and drive and yet all the bars have manditory building code parking lots.

Want to catch people put a couple of police cars and a cab stand in each bar parking lot. Or maybe bars should turn their parking lots into community gardens.

Frank
That goes for you too,RCMP
"We are not to drink and drive and yet all the bars have manditory building code parking lots."

Designated drivers anyone? Hello?
"Vdesign" is really a true representitive, of where our tax dollars have gone sideways. So what level of Government were you hired by "Vdesign", to comment on here. You know, kind of try and throw us a curve, on any subject on O250

I respect all peoples oppinions, but I DO NOT RESPECT the oppinion of government, nor their representitives. I do not respect any theif and/or liar!
Sam, i don't think V design is not hired by any government. I believe he is a well educated man, who does logical thinking.

Gus, is a person who has a lot of resources at his disposal.

Me, I'm just a Northern Redneck
I travel all over town day and night and have not encountered a single roadblock. One year I encountered three, but this year nothing.
Remember them good ole' days. You know those days when d n'd was the norm. You had to cover up one eye so that you can pick a lane.

Sure glad those days are gone.
He spoke, I hope you are right. Sometimes however, too much wisdom stops us from seeing what really is going on!

I remeber the "good old days" in PG, when the cops use to stop us, and ask us where we were going.

I would always say "home"....lol, and they would say fine. "If we see you out here again tonight, you are going to JAIL."

We very seldom pushed our luck!!

Things were a lot less intense in those days. Wish we could get that back.

Have a great Christmas everyone. Happy HO HO HO!! May you enjoy your family and friends, and good food and good cheer

And I say, and I will never stop,

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, and to ALL A GOOD NIGHT.

sam
People are WAY too uptight these days. Getting so sick of this 'zero tolerance' police state crap.
Drunk? Fine. Arrest 'em.
Glass of wine or two with dinner & your car is impounded???? WTF? Get a grip, Nazis.
"He spoke" is right; I do not work for any level of government. I work in a non-union position, for a privately owned business.

I like to think of myself as well educated, although there is always more to learn, though I have learned enough to have 3 letters after my name, when I choose to use them.

I do have to wonder if it way my saying I didn't want to support more police officers, or saying that our justice system is the joke of the free world, that lead Samiam to think I work for the government.
Vdesign. I suspect that it was your reference to the resources we allocate them. That line certainly got my attention. What makes you think that they have limited resources. Compared to who, and what.

The City of Prince George has 123 paid police officers, and 50 paid staff, in addition they have 3 paid City personel at Community Policing, plus volunteers. Plus we have approx 50 Auxilery Police.

This for a City of 70,000 people, most of whom are children, retired, or working men and women who obey the law. This leaves a hell of a lot of police to govern a few criminals, and impaired drivers.

In addition we have the Regional Police to look after the Regional District, and then of course the **special forces** (22nd ave)

So I fail to see how you arrived at the conclusion they have limited resources.

Wasn't there a publication recently naming PG as having one of the highest crime rates per capita in Canada? Not surprising that there are lots of cops.
well said Palopu!!
I believe MrPG is talking about the fact we are the 4th most dangerous city in Canada, and the most dangerous in BC.

This is based on rates of crimes like murder, and assault.

Not exactly a rating that implies we are a city of men and women who obey the law.

To tell you the truth, I had no idea, (Palopu's post does provide the numbers), of the number of police officers in PG.

Does anyone have actual numbers with the average number actually available (on the street) for policing at any given shift?
