Prince George, BC- The Spirit of BC Prince George Committee and the Prince George Public Library have partnered to create “Talking Proud PG”.
At “Talking Proud PG”, a database of local sports facts from around Prince George and the North will be gathered, verified by amateur researchers, professional librarians, and interested citizens, to allow residents the opportunity to learn, read and discover new things about Prince George and its connections.
“Talking Proud about our community will form a legacy component of the Spirit of BC Prince George Committee’s activities and result in a sustainable ‘Spirit of PG’ activity for subsequent years,” says Allan Wilson, Chief Librarian for the Prince George Public Library and Spirit of BC Prince George Committee member.
This information will form a sustainable mechanism that all community and city organizations may use to discuss, converse, confirm, and deposit information that can be utilized as a source of pride for our community. Once gathered, the data will be featured online within the Prince George Public Library’s website.
“We want to engage the community for suggestions about sports figures and officials who have connections to Prince George,” finished Wilson.” We have a vibrant community and we should feel proud of our accomplishments.”
The Spirit Committee, chaired by Mayor Dan Rogers, intends to create a "ready reference" link on the library's website that initially celebrates notable facts about Prince George sports figures that will be used by all interested community groups (Sports Hall of Fame, sports associations, etc).
As the Committee  changes toward legacy activities, the database will also include non-sports facts that "talk proud" about Prince George and the region.

Mr PG's new duds are a good symbolic start to this very worthwhile endeavor IMO.
I recall Brian Skakun doing some wrist twisting somewhere in his past. Does that count?
