Two of the days you are most likely to go visit friends and relatives (or need a ride home after a few to many wobble pops), and the bus service is shut down?

Add that to the fact you can't get to River Road, the BCR site, or the Airport, and you can see why everyone in PG has no choice but to buy a vehicle.

If you have a vehicle, why would you ever use our bus service? It is not like busses run often enough that you are not going to be waiting to catch one.

You take in the city's quality of snow removal, and you know that you have to own either a SUV or Pick-up with lots of ground clearance.

But on cold winters days, I don't could use a little global warming.
I had to read this twice. The buses aren't running? Wow.
Do people even take the bus? All I ever seem to see are busses driving around town with 2-3 people in them.
The buses in this city are a waste of time. As everyone on here has said, they only run certain areas, for instance they don't even run to Blackburn so if you live out there you need a vehicle. They don't run at proper times anywhere obviously because there are very seldom more that 5 or 6 people on them. As i have said before, they could use the little buses like the Handi-Dart for all routes. It would be a lot cheaper than those huge ones running around empty. Fuel costs must be terrible for this system.
Wow... first off it is Christmas and I betcha the drivers want to spend time with there family. Most of the people posting probably don't work on those days either.

Second as far as service... it is fiscally irresponsible for the buses to service some areas of the city. If public transport is a value to you, then live in the more dense/closer areas of the city. It doesn't make sense to run a bus to Blackburn to pick up three people.
"Wow... first off it is Christmas and I betcha the drivers want to spend time with there family"

Yes. So would airline pilots, people that work at the airport, taxicab drivers, greyhound dirvers, etc.

I say shut down all transportation at this time of year, close the stores, tell the ministers and priests to stay home and not provide Christmas services, firemen/women stay at home, paramedics, hospital workers, restaurants workers, shut the hotels down and remove all guests ....

I mean, this list can get VERY long.
Maybe smaller Buses would be the Answer, but if you do have Transit it has to run every Day of the Year no Exceptions or don't have it at all.
I really do not understand why we have the large buses that we have. Buses at least half the size would do for 80% of the time. In so called "rush hours" put on an additional bus for each "busy" run for faster service. Staffing might be a bit of an issue, but am sure someone who knows what they are doing can work it out.
Yes so true, way to tell travism Gus!
I guess, you would want all the bus drivers to be Jehovah Witnesses, Shouldn't they be allowed to have a few days off too.

Oh, you don't have a car. well, maybe your next years resolution should be. stop being a burden to everyone else and get a job and start contributing.... to climate change.

Merry Christmas

Yeah...so? Are we so dependent that we are unable to handle our community at a standstill for a few days? Really...c'mon gus. The rat race is silly. Travism is right imo. (as for the bus size...well...no comment).
If we were to stop for a few days, it would require only a little preplanning. It wouldn't kill us. It would probably be a good thing :)
Why do we run the big busses, and run them empty most of the time. Ask BC Transit, and the City. They are responsible for this service. They have the money in the budget, and just like City Hall they are determined to spend every bloody cent, and ask for more.

This is a **hokey** service at best, however it would require some in depth analysis, and some inovative thinking to come up with a better system.

Of course if you came up with a better system, you would probably run it at half the cost, and get twice the servive, and who would want that?? Lay offs would be the order of the day.

Heaven forbid that we should run a Government entity at a profit and reduce the cost to taxpayers. This would be unheard of, and could, if not watched closely morph into all sorts of new areas of endeavour for Governments, like tax deductions, and fiscal responsibility, words and ideas, that make Governments shudder.
Should read tax reductions, not deductions.
I agree with travism, let them have the time off to spend with their families. Buses are not an essential service. I believe they are unionized too so it could be in their contract to have Xmas & Boxing Day off, I'm guessing. I don't think anyone should have to work Xmas day unless they are deamed an essential service.
If they run almost empty all year, why would anyone think that they would be used on Christmas or Boxing day.
