Prince George, B.C.- The Salvation Army’s kettle campaign wrapped up with   $8 thousand dollars more than it’s goal this year.

The campaign wrapped up Christmas Eve, a day that saw Prince George residents stuff $20 thousand dollars into the kettles all over the city. That brought the full campaign total to $240 thousand dollars.

The goal this year was $232,000.

Way to go PG! I saw your generosity on my stints at the kettles... some people only had change in their pockets, but they emptied their pockets every time they passed a kettle! and it all adds up. Well done!
Lots of panic created before.... guess that is how one creates a response.
that is great news, but should the amount collected from the tree of lights not be included. Goal $35,000 received up to Dec 23 $41,000. So in reality they have received $281,000 and possibly still counting. Just my thought.
The tree of lights although sally ann is used for another project, not general operating expense.
panic Gus ????

Simply a need to remind people of the need to extend a helping hand to those less fortunate in our society.

Don't understand what you meant by your comment, however if it was somehow to criticize the work of the Salvation Army for putting out a message of need.....

I sincerely hope not.
In my opinion I think the city, instead of donating money to all the special interest groups such as the symphony orchestra for one, should take that money and give it to the Salvation Army. That way, the Army would not have to beg for money every year at this time. I have given money many times this year and it does get a little too much seeing the kettles on every street corner. I feel guilty walking by one without putting money in. Having said that I hope I never have to use any of their services though. They do a great job.
