Happy New Year to all.
Just spent the whole first period of the Winter Classic Hockey Game writing to the Two people that sang the Anthems that they were GOOFS for not taking thier Hats off while they were singing the song.
People are Fighting and Dieing for both Canada and USA and these two goofs don't have the Pride and/or Glory to remove their hats. What a DISGRACE.
you can always squeeze out one more year on hopium.
Just learned good ol' Dick Clark is 80. Time waits for no one. Me too. Darn!
Hey diplomat... Just found another Youtube gem. It is called "immigration gumball". After watching it, doing the math, it kinda puts altruism in a different light. Makes ya ponder, too.
Hey Harbinger...interesting video!

Obviously people in the USA are concerned. However, the projections into the future assume that the USA will keep its attractiveness of a country to immigrate to for the next many generations. If it would see a drastic drop in its living standard or currency or both a lot would change overnight.

Google *Georgia Guidestones* and visit the official website.

The world is overpopulated (this is not a popular thing to say) and we are crowding each other more and more, competing for the dwindling resources.

That is why it is even more important today to not waste precious resources on warmongering and imperialistic ambitions as all our efforts should be directed towards peaceful coexistence with resources dedicated to making life as liveable as possible until the day when world population will peak and eventually even decline.

Altruism is a positive effort. Even when it appears to be in vain it really never actually is as long as it has bettered the life of even one deserving individual.

Hey Diplomat,
I got a big laugh out of your reply that apes have their own rights . . .
But on your current topic -I am not too optimistic that people will ever stop fighting - look at our history just one rumble after another including the worst 2 world wars by our supposedly civililized societies.
Happy New Year Lou! You're an anal weirdo. I hope not watching the first period of the game was worth it. After all, its not everyday you can force your opinions on others. Good man! You run right out and post those letters!
Hey greatmysticbushape, actually I am not very optimistic either. The past record is awful.

But, it's better to be a bit optimistic than totally pessimistic, isn't it?

I could not imagine that the Berlin wall would ever come down...yet, it happened!

I suggest that those countries which consider themselves more advanced (and wiser) than those who they (those countries) label more backwards have a greater responsibility to use peaceful means rather than brutal sophisticated weapons to settle disputes.

Like I stated in another post: we already know they way.

Christian nations fought the last two world wars against each other...not a good thing when viewed by people with other religions or belief systems.

I have more to say, but let's leave it alone for now.

Hey diplomat. Saw the Georgia Guidestones. Speaking of Georgia, I'm reminded when I made a 1-800 call to North Carolina. The two guys I actually talked to sounded exactly like Gomer Pyle. but I didn't say anything. Georgia is in the eastern US. That is where the Mormons And Jehovahs Witness's religions (cults?) started in the early 1800's. Leave it to the Americans, eh? I was never aware of so many "conspiracies' before Al Gore "invented" the Internet. I hate to say this but I'm gonna. Youtube again. This time it is "Death Star Canteen". Let me know if you like it.
How did we ever get along in the world before the invention of YouTube? How did people back up their weird theories before it? Fascinating stuff.
Olympics just over a month away. How many people trained in Prince George for the games???? Were the trips to China and Turin a bust??? Did the former Mayor and Council bamboozle us???? Will we continue to be conned in 2010???

Statement by Brodsky in January 2006. The average attendence at a Cougers home game was 3054, which was 25% short of the teams break-even mark, which brings with it a projected loss of a half million dollars. Because we have not raised ticket prices the break even point is now 4000 fans per game, or just a bit under.

Fast forward to January 2009. The average attendence at a Cougers home game for this season to date (including the teddy bear toss attendence of 4299) is 2180 per game.

Based on the above statement by Brodsky the franchise must now be losing approx $1 Million per season. If so why are they still here???

The arrival of the Boeing 747 Wide Body Aircraft at the PG Airport with all the attendent pomp and circumstance, was the only arrival for the year 2009. We still do not know exactly why this plane landed in Prince George, when its normal flight, and business would take it through Anchorage. (In fact the plane did land in Anchorage before coming to Prince George)

The Airport Authority stated emphatically that they did not pay this plane to land in Prince George. What they didnt say was whether some other Company gave them an incentive to land here. Perhaps they got a break on the fuel.

There also was no mention as to whether Southern Air would ever return, or if there was any kind of an agreement or understanding made with them. Nor was there anything said specifically that would indicate that any planes would land in 2010. We wait with bated breath.

Mayor Rodgers is boasting about more money being spent on roads in 2009 than any other year in the history of Prince George. What he does not mention is that approx $1.5 Million of these dollars were spent on the Round About at the North end of the long delayed, and very expensive Cameron St. Bridge. So if we were to eliminate the high cost of the Round About which gave us very little road, or pavement, we would have spent about the same in 2009 as we did in 2008. Does the Mayor think he is pulling the wool over our eyes. Perhaps he is.

Now that 2010 is here you can rest assured that starting Saturday, and all through the months of January, February, March, the snow removal teams will be working like dogs, spending the new budget money like drunken sailors, and then of course when we hit next October we will get the same old BS story that the budget has run out. Perhaps they should conserve now, and spend later. Whats the chances????

Maybe we could get a list of the Real Estate in Prince George that is owned by the City. Seems to me they must own more property than Donald Trump. How much money are we losing because this property sits em;pty year after year, when it could be sold, or rented, and taxed???? The Livebridge building on second ave has been sold, and according to IPG, who originally bought the building and wired it for a call centre stated that it sold for more than they paid for it. What he didnt say was whether it sold for more than they paid, plus the additonal $400,000.00 or more they spent on wiring the building. In other words, did we take a bath on this building???

Why is the City in the Real Estate business??

Whats happening with the Prince George Golf and Curling Club. There was no work done on the new golf course in 2009. It was supposed to open in 2009. Rumour has it that the deal has gone bust, and the Golf Course has gone broke., Is the City lurking in the back ground waiting to grab some more real estate to sell to developers?? Who knows.

Whats happened to investigative reporting?? Seems most news stories these days are reprints of statements made by others or company news releases. This City is out of control and needs to be looked into with a view of finding out what we own, why we own it, when we are going to use it, who is going to benefit, etc; etc; etc;. We would need CIS to actually follow what the City has been doing in the real estate business in the last 10/15 years,. It is mind boggling when you try to track it.

Have a great 2010
Great post palopu. Good questions we will never get straight answers on.

I would love to see some real investigative journalism on some of these things you brought up. Who's got the guts?
