Prince  George, B.C.-The complaints that gas prices never  come down  as fast as they go  up ,  can't be made today.   New Year's Day the price jumped to  $102.9  per litre of regular,   five cents higher  than it had been.  Late yesterday, it dropped to 97.7  that's  down 5.2  cents.

Overall, today's price is below what we should be paying  according  to the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternative Gas  gouge meter:

Your gas prices are 2.8¢ per litre below the normalized cost of $1.01 per litre in Prince George.

With today's crude oil price of $79.36 USD per barrel and the US dollar at $1.05 CAD, the price of regular unleaded gasoline in Prince George should be $1.01 per litre at normal profit margins.

Who cares what gas prices SHOULD be. They SHALL be whatever the market will bear.
I think some stations didn't even change their prices so they didn't really plunge. Still good to see but I would prefer gas at 59 cents a liter.
Back to work for a lot of people tomorrow...I wonder what will happen to the prices over night.
Ruez, I agree, I can remember gas at 59 cents a gallon( that would be a canadian not american gallon...)....lol..dating myself...but I am glad to see the cost of fuel down....
It's still 100.9 up here in the Peace :(
fill'er up boys!
In 1970 oil was three dollars a barrel.
Toast and coffee was thirty five cents, too. But I digress.
I remeber the old propane wars where it would drop as low as 10cents or even as low as a penny one time in the early 90's. Now its not much cheeper than gas and thats the real travisty for the CO2 crowd IMO.
Just to get us ready for 105.9 p/l
I wish that Prince George City Council would reacy as quickly to complaints about rising taxes!
golly I remember gas @ 49 cents an imperial gallon on Victoria steet at Econo . Should have heard the complaints when it hit 50 cents. Wages were about $2.25 per hour.
Gas, good old regular grade leaded, was at .49/imp.gal. for some years during the early seventies as I recall. Smokes cost about the same, .50/ pack, so for less than ten bucks you could put a few gallons in the tank, have a bite at the Dog N' Suds, and cruise around smoking cigarettes all night. Beer may have been involved at some point as well, so add another $5.00.
metalman.
Around 1970 a half dozen bottles of beer cost $1.27. I know. I bought some. Anyone know where I can buy a time machine? Sigh!
