Prince George, B.C.-  Because there is  an air quality advisory in effect, the City of Prince George will be offering free transit rides  as  of midight tonight, to 11:59  pm  on the  day the advisory is cancelled.    That means, you can take  the bus for free  starting tomorrow.

This is the seventh air advisory day in Prince George since the City of Prince George has offered Free Fare for Clean  Air.

Beginning January 7 th all transit buses will switch their digital signs to display stating “Free Fare for Clean Air” and will cover the fare boxes so passengers will not be able to deposit money.

I'd love to see some statistics with respect to people who take advantage of this... other than the regular transit riders. You never seem to hear about that.
Well pick me up at Salmon Valley
Mr PG I would like to see them also, however I doubt that any stats exist. I think that we could safely assume that all this program does is provide free transit to people who already use the bus, and therefore is in effect a cost to taxpayers.

The day you see the Mayor, 8 Councillors, 12/15 City Managers, 750 City Staff. 782 UNBC Staff, Off Duty :Police, and Firemen, and a substantial number of Government workers, Teachers, etc; using this service, then you will know the program is working.

There is no point implementing a service for others, if you are not prepared to use it yourself.

The only public employee that I am aware of who used public transit for many, many, years, was the Vice President of the United State, when he was a Senator. Joe Biden.

Anyone out there aware of any others????
