Prince George, B.C.- The first round of the myPG project  is over, and work now continues on inputting all the information.

The person in charge of the development of this long term plan for the City is Mark Fercho who says he is pleased with the public involvement so far “I am definitely happy with the response, and with the quality of that response. 95 plus percent of the work was really well done” says Fercho, “My sincere thanks to all who took the time to submit their thoughts on what they envision for the Prince George of the future.”

Here are some of the comments people have submitted about what they would like to see:

  • Accessible to natural environments.
  • Prince George will have improved medical services and be the cancer treatment centre for the north.
  • Prince George will be a major transportation hub from North America to the Asia Pacific
  • Innovative City Hall-open to new ideas and change.
  • Railroads and heavy industry moved out of bowl.
  • Aggressive promotion of eat local, home gardening, composting, urban chickens. Plant useful (coniferous, fruit) trees not ornamental.
  • Use buildings and infrastructure we have, rather than spread out.
  • Downtown -people living there and market places
  • Nice mix of City and greenmix (go around bowl via green spaces)
  • Trees downtown
  • Connections to neighbourhoods
  • more transit- probably using electricity
  • safe healthy downtown,
  • efficient city hall, cut costs, grow tax base
  • use money for fitters and other equipment to reduce stink and air pollution and not for unnecessary studies
  • Creating an atmosphere of welcome for new business

Fercho will provide an update to Prince George City Council on Monday night. The next step will be to schedule some workshops for public involvement, followed by a public review of the outcome of those workshops.
