Prince George, BC. -  “E” Division Major Crime has continued to investigate the murder of 13-year-old Adam Williams and charges have now been laid against his mother.

Although he died in 2000, Adam's death was not reported until 2004. Investigators from the Prince George RCMP Detachment conducted the initial investigation, recovering remains later confirmed to be those of Adam Williams from a wooded area on the  west end of North Nechako Road.

An evidence package was completed and forwarded to Prince George Crown Counsel. Judy Williams was released by police and will be attending court in Prince George on February 3, 2010.

In June, 2009 Lloyd Cook, 50, was arrested in Oliver in connection with the murder of Adam. At the time of the murder Judy Williams and Lloyd Cook were in a common-law relationship and were residing in Prince George.

A great reason to bring back the death penalty!
It is difficult to imagine, how could a parent neglect a child to that extent?
metalman.
Not surprised at all. Children in BC are not protected by our government to the extent they should be. There are so many couples who cannot have children of their own, and yet you see so many abused and neglected, and these parents are given nothing but hand outs and "support" when they should not be parents at all! We have to take a test to drive a car, and follow rules to protect ourselves and others while driving, but there is nothing in place to ensure people are fit and ready to be parents!
Yes, government should regulate who becomes a parent!!
Yeah, we really want more government meddling in our private lives.
metalman.
"Yes, government should regulate who becomes a parent!!"

****shudder****

Yes, let's monitor each and every human's sexual behaviour. Then, while we're at it we may as well include eugenics. After all, we don't want to deal with problems, we just want to avoid facing them...

I thought we defeated Nazi-like ideology. Perhaps not.
I'm pretty sure that comment was sarcastic in response to how the government fails to 'protect kids' as well as they should. Maybe the so-called parents should do a better job themselves.

In any case, this situation is tragic in the truest sense of the word.
No matter how effective social services is in BC, they're never gonna be able to keep every kid safe, specially when that abuse/neglect is purposeful and unpredictable. Social services are only as good as the child protection laws and the public who's job it is to report (neighbours, doctors, teachers, etc). No report, means no action. I don't think social services has a crystal ball.
I'm appalled that his mother isn't in custody until the trial. How can crown not consider her a threat to society?
Spikepg you would probably be the first to bitch if the government did try to control of our lives even more than they do.
