Just heard on the radio that northern BC sent a bunch of police officers to help with the Olympics. They also added that it would not affect us because there are still enough police to be "business as usual"! My first thought after hearing this was do we really need those officers then if we can work without them? Maybe this is a way for our budget to be reduced? If we do not need this manpower for over a month then DO WE NEED THEM AT ALL?
You make a good point. What they've actually done is a shell game. For the officers staying here all leave and holidays are cancelled. So this brings up their available numbers making the claim somewhat true.

However, when all the other officers return and take their holidays, along with the one's whose leaves were cancelled, we'll be short police then. This will be handled with overtime which will hit our budget and not the olympic budget.
That is if it is as you say and all holidays and time off are cancelled. I think Municca has a good point here that also makes me wonder.
As usual, there will be a downturn in crime in March and April, so no problem.
Unfortunately, there are those patrols that
will not be there, so yes, crime will go on and we can thank the shortage of officers that OUR POLITICIANS have given us
DUE TO THE OLYMPIC PORK BARRELL they have
created. I wonder how much all those security cameras purchased have cost us, the B.C. taxpayer. I'm not going to the
Olympics, who can afford, in some areas,
$400.00 per night? Oh,right,the spinoffs,
the new business, Darn. Snowed again.....
Those security camera's were all installed by an Israeli company... they have back door access that allows them to view its content from anywhere in the world casing potential security 'flaws' that can be identified without an Arab standing around with a camera taking pictures.

All the odd number tragedies in the last decade 9/11, 3/11, 7/7 ect were all under the surveillance of this same company....
