200 students    listen  as Auxilliary RCMP Constable Lisa Striker   praises their  participation  in  the BRAVE program
Prince George, B.C.- Today, more than 200 grade students at Heather Park Middle School, officially graduated from the B.R.A.V.E. program.
BRAVE stands for   Bully Resistance and Violence Education and is a program   that was developed in Prince George following the murder of a young man on the   grounds of College Heights Senior Secondary School in 1997. It is thought bullying was an element which lead to that death.
For Auxiliary Constable Lisa Striker, this is a special graduation class. She has taught the program at Heather Park for the past three years,   and that means, every student at Heather Park Middle School has now  been trained in B.R.A.V.E.     The program works with students to talk about the impacts of bullying, building self esteem, internet safety and how to identify and resist bullying.

Heather Park Middle School is now the only school in B.C. in which all current students have graduated from the   B.R.A.V.E. program.

and this is a school that is on the "chopping Block". Go figure!
The program can continue on within the new elementary school. It is geared towards grade 6 students. A big thank you to Constable Striker for taking the time to work on this program.
