Selfish cowards.
Thanks meatheads, just what we needed. The parents should have ate these kids while they bones were still soft.
RUEZ I think I know who you are. Does your name begin with R and is it a name of a song but a popular pop band?
Whitewater, that is gross!!!!!
No, you don't know me.
No, its should have fed them to the pigs when their bones were still soft.
Maybe just an indicator that the School Board is not the only one that has a disregard for the schools.
Deplorable comments, as usual.
Deplorable acts deserve deplorable comments.
And how is that going to change the situation for the better?

Mischievous little imps, eh?
They're obviously youths and what the hell are they doing out at that time of night/morning other than to cause trouble?
I just love catching little pukes like this and waking up their parents and hearing the exclamations: "oh no, not my kid, they would never do that" or, It's not their fault, it's who they are friends with"....

Yeah right. Products of defective parenting.
The School Board would probably be able to keep at least another school open if it could get its hands on the annual amount spent on vandalism repair in School District 57.

Maybe even two!

Parents can give guidance and good examples and hope for the best. Other than that they are powerless to exert control over juveniles who have taken the wrong turn.
Give guidance and hope for the best? Thats part of the problem. If you dont know where your teenager is at 3:41am then YOU are the problem. Forget passing the blame onto who they hang out with. If they want a sleepover at a friends house then you had darn well better know them and the parents well enough to know that they are following the same guidance as you. "Hope for the best"?!?! good grief
I agree Diplomat, funny how some always need to blame the parents of wayward children though. Like they really think they know what they're talking about hey. Not in their dreams. Blaming parents is the easy way out. Our society as a whole is the problem not the parents.
if everyone took responsiblity rather than pointing somewhere else we might get some where......but that sure as hell ain`t going to happen...
Blaming the parents is a good place to start. If we did a better job of parenting we would be a whole lot farther ahead as a society. Sadly, there is a high probability that these pukes will be parents one day themselves and will propagate more of the same behavior.

Hopefully they will be tax payers and can share the pain as well.
" If you dont know where your teenager is at 3:41am then YOU are the problem. "

The parents probably know where he/she is: Out and about!

Are the parents allowed to shout at them (psychological abuse!) or restrain them by force (physical abuse!)?

No.

"Our society as a whole is the problem not the parents."

Words of wisdom, Dragonmaster!
If parents were blamed and had to pay for things thier kids did, then maybe they would try a little harder to ensure they know right from wrong. Hit them where it hurts...the pocketbook.
In some European countries parents routinely buy liability insurance because they can be held liable for damages done by their children.

People buy life insurance, fire insurance, vehicle insurance etc.

Why doesn't the government require parents to buy liability insurance for vandalism committed by their children?

Why should society be on the hook to pay?

As I have previously stated, just wait til they grow up and (hopefully) move away. That is all you can do. Very sad.
Yes, but they just move somewhere else, have children and the cycle continues.
Hopefully,,, some of them will one day be home owners....then listen to the crying about the high cost of school TAXES
What goes around, comes around. If it weren't fer cliches, I'd be dead in the water.
"If parents were blamed and had to pay for things thier kids did, then maybe they would try a little harder to ensure they know right from wrong. Hit them where it hurts...the pocketbook."

From your comment I can only conclude that you do not have chidren, or your kid(s) are still young and therefore easily controlled. Enjoy your idealism, it surely will not last.
And Diplomat, if it has gotten to the point where parents "in some European countries" are taking out insurance policies against vandalism that their children may commit, then we as a society need to make some serious changes, and now! Let's start with instituting a criminal system that actually PUNISHES criminals, and does not make a mockery of honest tax paying citizens by pampering criminals and giving them more rights than a free person has.
Oy! don't get me started!
