Prince George, B.C. - Another week, another marijuana grow op busted in our city...

RCMP have arrested three adults in connection with the discovery of the latest illegal operation -- this time, in the city's Westgate subdivision.

Officers executed a search warrant on a residence in the 36-hundred block of Chartwell Avenue, locating more than 500 pot plants, 35-pounds of 'bud' marijuana, and related grow equipment.

Police say two women and one man have been taken into custody and they are facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Last week, officers raided a home on Chestnut Drive, arresting four adults.  On February 4th, a grow op was shut down on Harold Drive in Miworth, and officers executed nine search warrants in the month of January.

So I guess there is no crack, meth, Ecstasy or heroin in PG. At the rate they are busting these prohibited agricultural installations, they should have stumbled upon some of the real drugs.

So much for pot being a gateway substance.

Low hanging fruit!
no doubt Loki...it sounds like the "hardcore" dealers are too smart for the police.
Another bust! Let this be a lesson to you, you nasty marijuana growers!
illegal horticulture?

Sounds stupid when you say it out loud, but that is what this is.
"You're not allowed to grow those plants!"
"That naturally occurring weed is illegal!"
"That unprocessed vegetable matter is a greater threat than the recreational chemicals MANUFACTURED IN AN UNREGULATED UNDERGROUND LAB by under educated non-professionals!"
Loki's posts say it all. However, I still think that even if the fuzz are just nipping at organized crimes ankles, they are causing some concern. With any luck the recent and future busts of grow ops will significantly reduce the product the filth have to sell, maybe less of the bad shtuff will be available as a result.
Heres me, grasping at straws again.
metalman.
these gangs are criminals and do not go"out of business" when they run out of product-they move to the area of least resistance which right now seems to be the manufactured drugs(not many busts there) and they branch out to more violent acts of thievery. These organizations are run from greed-they will also start to engage against each other which puts innocent people at risk as they use our streets and playground for their "warfare"-then when the authorities start to shift their focus from watching hydrometers to the criminal element itself- they will start to grow again -then the cycle begins again
Chartwell ave eh? Pretty upscale neighbourhood. Hope these people loose their house to proceeds of crime legislation.
Any landlord can examine rental properties on 24 hour notice. If they are too stupid to do anything to prevent grow-ops, then they can face the consequences.
