Prince George, B.C. - A female pedestrian is in hospital with major injuries after being hit by a vehicle near 5th Avenue and Highway 97N...

Police, Fire Rescue and Ambulance were called to the scene of the former Esso Service Station, just before two this morning.  Police say members of the overnight staff at Save-On Foods found the woman lying near 5th Avenue and called for help.

The 33-year-old woman was transported to the University Hospital of Northern B.C. for treatment of what's being described as "major" injuries.

Police say witnesses and physical evidence confirm the woman was struck by a vehicle -- possibly a small, dark-coloured pick-up truck.  RCMP have yet to identify a suspect vehicle and they're asking anyone who may have information to come forward.

Hats off to the folks at Save-On for helping where it was desperately needed.
Oh that is terrible, I hope she is OK.I can't believe how many hit & runs there have been lately.
My God, they ran her down and just left her there? Thats just heartless.
The Save-On staff at 5th and the bypass are the best in town. Hats off to them!
Thank you to the save on workers, she is my auntie, and our family greatly appreciates that you helped her. And yes the person responsible for hitting her left her there, ran like a coward...
1st degree assault/murder when they leave the scene of the accident IMO. Throw the book at them.

We have to stop letting them get off on reduced charges when they flee a scene of an accident... and we have to start recognizing the merits of an individual that owns up to a 'mistake' and accepts their punishment to see that someone who was hurt doesn't suffer any more needlessly by choice.

The idea that you run from a scene has become the norm... and that is a sign that the judicial system no longer functions in its capacity to influence the norms in society... much less punish those who violate those norms.

I'm not sure what this means... My understanding is that fleeing the scene of an accident brings more charges.
Sure hope she is okay, although one thing
Sure hope she is okay, although one thing I have noticed lately is that a lot of people walking in the dark have no reflective clothing on of any kind. For motorists make sure you clean off your headlights once and awhile and watch for others on or near the roads.

I seem to recall an accident in the lower mainland where someone left, consumed some alcohol and ...
