There was no love relationship between 20 year old Candace Kalmokoff and her accused killer, 19 year old Vernon Kyle Wilson of Kispiox. The young woman’s body was found behind the Remax offices on 15th Ave New Year’s day.

Police have not released any information on the possible cause of death, but they do believe she died in her home in the 500 block of Winnipeg Street and her body was then moved to that alley.

Wilson was the close personal friend of Kalmokoff’s boy friend who was away in England during the holiday but has now returned to Prince George.

Candace Kalmokoff, 20 was a straight “A” student in the nursing program here. Wilson is a second year student at UNBC.

Wilson is charged with manslaughter in the death and is to appear in court next week for a bail hearing.

too bizzare.
So sad. I feel for the family of both young people.
I was offended by the picture on the front page of the citizen.

I was also disapointed the community never reacted to this crime against this young lady with an impromtu shrine that shows how the community cares.

I also didn't like the way the whole case was reported in the media leaving the crime to look like a mutual conflict of some kind.

I think it hightens the issue of student safety for students from out of town, and underscores the need for student housing that is closer to the two schools and more oriented towards the collective safety of the student population.

I don't think any leassons were learned or acknowledged from this tradgedy.
