Pretty short guy, 5-8 inches tall. He must have thrown the knife.

5-8 inches tall, now he is going to be hard to find!
goes by the alais of "Tom Thumb"
great ... we got rid of the PG Hotel, put a Starbucks into the Ramada, and there are still stabbings downtown.

Okay ... which buildings should go next????

3:30 am .... we need some foot patrols at that time. The new downtown crime unit must have been asleep.
Theres a starbucks in the Ramada? Cute comments on the height. hahahaha
Yup .... time to check out the "new" downtown ... if Starbucks has gone in, can Benz be far behind?
gus, get real. Nobody said that getting rid of the PG Hotel would eliminate all crime in the downtown.

Getting rid of a dive bar certainly can't hurt, but to suggest that all of the downtown's problems would immediately cease upon the Hotel's closing are ludicrous.
"Nobody said that getting rid of the PG Hotel would eliminate all crime in the downtown."

Oh????? Maybe none of the people you know said that but that does not mean that some of those I know did not say that. I think you jump to far too many conclusions based on insufficient information.

I know some that did say that. In fact, recently an RCMP officer who can frequently be seen walking downtown said things are now really quiet ......

I think what may have to be realized by a few more people is that things being quiet and the crime rate may just be two different things. One is not necessarily an indicator of the other.
Who cares who said it and when, whoever said it was dreaming.

Certainly, closing the PG Hotel helped curtail some of the rowdy drunken activity downtown, but it's still not someplace you want to go at night. I'm sure the employees of the Ramada could tell you lots of stories of the goings on down there, and I would guess they're pretty happy the PG Hotel is gone.
The PG hotel may be gone, but the crowd sure is hell isnt.
Now boys, settle down or you will be sent to your room so you only have your computer, tv, game consoles, and telephone.

Closing a dive bar is a step in the right direction. There is no single solution panacea to the downtown woes. That is the part most are missing. There are a myriad of issues with the downtown, so we need a myriad of solutions.

The new downtown special squad should be most active from about 9:00 pm till 06:00 am to address this aspect. We cannot have a popular downtown nite life if protection services only operate during regular business hours. On top of the previous statement, they just got deployed last week. Give them a chance to learn their area.

Ah, the good old days (20 years ago). Boogieing at the rock pit, generator and playgirl, while all the tightly wound college students partied at the current rum jungle (forgot the name), and the stetsons partied at the iron horse and the OK Corral. At one time we would proudly proclaim PG as having the most bar seats per capita. Now it is hardly worth driving into town for an evening of rockin revery.
