Connolly Returns In Cougars Home Game vs. Chilliwack Tonight
By 250 News
The Prince George Cougars get a big boost tonight when they host the Chilliwack Bruins for the first of two games at CN Centre. The Cougars will get star forward Brett Connolly into the line-up for the first time since he went down with a hip injury in December, an injury that has cost the highly skilled and highly touted NHL prospect all but 12 games this season. Connolly, last year's CHL Rookie of the Year, has produced seven goals and six assists in the dozen games that he has played, but hasn't been in a WHL game since December 5 in Kamloops. However, the last long layoff before he returned from the same injury lasted 17 games and Connolly came back to put up seven points in the first three games when came back on November 27. Connolly isn't the only offensive boost for the Cougars, as 15-year old forward Troy Bourke has been called up for the remainder of the year. Bourke, who the Cougars chose in the second round of the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft, was second in scoring in the Alberta Major Midget Hockey League this season, posting 53 points in his rookie year, which might be his only year in the AMHL. Bourke's 27 goals for the St. Albert Raiders was tops in the AMHL and proved to be a dangerous presence when he suited up for the Cougars on February 20 in Edmonton, creating a number of scoring chances. The Cougars need a sweep of the mid-week doubleheader to tie the season series with Chilliwack, with the Bruins taking four of the first six meetings. Puck drop is at 7:00 with Tickets available by calling Ticketmaster at 250-564-5585.
