Slide In Revelstoke Claims at Least Two Lives

Revelstoke, B.C. - Police have confirmed two men have died, and thirty people have been injured in the slide at Boulder Mountain in Revelstoke.
The slide occurred Saturday afternoon during a snow mobile competition on the mountain.
 
It is not yet known if any Prince George area residents are involved, one Ft St John man was involved but was not injured.  
 
19 persons were released from hospital with 1 person remaining in critical and 3 individuals in serious condition. 
 
These four individuals have all been transferred to Kamloops Royal Inlands Hospital, Kelowna General, Vernon Regional and Calgary Foothills hospital for care.    
 
Avalanche Technicians with Parks Canada along with the BC Search and Rescue (SAR) personnel are flying over the slide site this morning to properly assess the safety levels for ground searchers to enter the location. 
 
Local air assets of 3 helicopters from Alpine Helicopters and Selkirk Mtn Helicopters are assisting with the task today. 
 
The RCMP Air Services Air 3 from the Southeast District is also assisting. 
There  are numerous persons unaccounted for. Police have started checking with  hotels to see if those who are currently unaccounted for, had already checked out and were headed home.

Lots of warning prior in the area, but they just don't listen.
They know avalanches. They do not have to listen.

Something like teaching drivers with 20 years of exeperience a defensive driving course.

"I've driven 20 years. Have had a few fender benders, but hey, who hasn't."
More areas will be off limits now. Weeding out the stupid, the laws of nature.
Its BC avalanches doing its thing again. snowmobiling can be dangerous sport when your up in the mountains.
