Prince George, B.C. - The United Steelworkers and WorkSafe B.C. have launched a six month safety awareness campaign . The campaign will see television ads on every T.V. station from Kamloops to the Northern B.C. border spreading the message to work safe, drive safe, get home alive.
The $25 thousand dollar campaign has been developed under the joint Safety Health Awareness Research Program (SHARP) in conjunction with WorkSafe B.C.
SHARP trustee and President of the United Steelworkers Local 1-424, Frank Everitt, says the message is very important especially now when statistics show a decrease in injuries and fatalities. He says this is not the time for workers to let down  their guard “We have to be diligent in keeping the message out there and not be complacent. These are difficult economic times but ‘on the job safety focus’ are key words we must always pay attention to.”
The campaign calls on workers to make the right choices, ever mindful there are family, friends and co-workers who would be devastated if something should happen to them.
