Ft St John-   Classes were cancelled friday at North Peace Secondary School and the school was temporary closed after some safety concerns were reported to school staff and police thursday night.

These concerns stemmed from a suspicious letter found by a staff member that had been posted at various locations throughout the school. The letter did not make any explicit threats to any person or persons, however, since finding this letter, a number of rumours had circulated amongst students and staff as to the intent of the letter. Out of an abundance of caution, the school was closed to allow the police to conduct a full investigation into this matter.

The police investigation has revealed that this suspicious letter was actually the work of a student for an English class assignment. The letter spoke of the end of the world and the writer acquiring a fully automatic firearm to better defend himself or herself from threats in the post apocalyptic world.

The student, who was proud of his work, had posted copies of the letter at various locations throughout the school. Either a staff member or student misinterpreted the message in the letter to the extent that he or she believed there was a threat to students or staff at the school.

“With the technology today, the spread of information is virtually instantaneous with various social media outlets, says Cpl. Steve Perret of the Fort St John RCMP. In this case, a message in a letter was misinterpreted and it spread like wildfire amongst the students and staff”.

Its like everyone is guilty and the worst case hypothetical scenario is the order of the day these days. A lot of ninnies that over react to everything because they watch to much TV and the horror news that makes people think a monster is hiding around every corner. A little more common sense is in order sometimes I think.
Over reacting and watching to much tv???

Apparently eagle doesn't understand that Columbine and all the other REAL LIFE horror stories we all know about can and do happen all the time. Just recently there were two seperate REAL plots uncovered through the internet that were stopped because someone reported them.
Whoever is responsible for this letter and posting it all over a school needs a very strong message sent to them and anyone that approved of it does as well.

I'm very glad Eagleone isn't responsible in anyway for people, or is he/she?
No worries... I guess its a hard call to make if we don't know what was in the letter to begin with? I'm thinking if its an English assignment, then that should be pretty obvious.

From the article it doesn't sound like any threats were made only talk of survival after an end of the world event and how that would involve gun ownership? Not something to shut a school down with and put a scare into everyone from my perspective. Is this kid going to think he is now a terrorist for what he wrote and how does that help matters?
