Why do we even punish people if they can get it wiped off the records after a few years? Especially a sexual predator.

If I were stupid enough to wish harm on a child, I would wish one of the children who pardoned this guy went to play for him.

As if this question has not been asked a million times already;
How in hell did this piece of dirt obtain a pardon? Is that even real? Did he get some recognition for helping to get some really good players into the NHL? (joking)
It seems that he did not even spend much time in jail for his crimes, that's an insult, but a pardon? unreal.
