Prince George, B.C.- Columbia Bitulithic has been awarded the asphalt contact for paving works for the  City of Prince George .
They had submitted the lower of two bids received, with a price tag of $2,760,837.14 including taxes. The price reflects an increase in the cost of asphalt, it was purchased last year at a cost of $126.75 per tonne. This year, the cost is $143.00 that’s a 12% increase over last year.
It is no surprise the price has climbed as the price of crude oil is now $84.00 a barrel.
The asphalt is expected to be ready  by mid May with paving operations concluding in October.
