Quesnel, B.C.-   A young offender is in custody in Quesnel, following a string of events in that community.
RCMP say that at around 1:00 this morning, officers spotted a white vehicle being driven erratically through town. The officers followed the vehicle for a time then put on the lights and siren to get the driver to pull over. The driver didn’t stop.
A spike belt was eventually deployed near the Quesnel River Bridge, but the driver kept on going, driving on the blown out tires for a time, past the Quesnel and District Arts and Recreation Centre and eventually stopping on a dead end street.
According to police, the driver, a 15 year old, then told officers there was a shotgun in the vehicle. Police retrieved a shotgun with a spent shell, and other ammunition from the passenger seat of the vehicle. Police later determined the spent shell had been discharged just before officers tried to get the driver to pull over.
Police believe the young offender was considering harm to the public and to himself.
Police are recommending charges of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm and evading police.

Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm and evading police? Simple. First offense? Fine. Juvenile? Sympathy from the court? Doctor it down to plain old mischief, give him a suspended sentence or "open custody. "Which way your honour to that famous revolving door we have here in this courthouse?" We will see, folks.
I'm sure he was just misunderstood. Nobody told him he wasn't allowed to do things like that. Thankfully he didn't kill anybody.
As we precariously hang on to the fibers of our society. small tears shows up in our youths which fail to see any hope in their future.
Go my son,and sin no more...NEXT CASE!
You know, if we just let our police summarily execute these people, before they start their revolving door trip thru the justice system, we can save so many innocent people from being victims of crime in the future.

We would also save millions in costs to have then incarcerated off and on for the rest of their lives, and millions more in lawyers, and court costs.

You know I bet crime rates would fall so fast that we could even get rid of most of the police, lawyers, and judges.

Ok, maybe I am not quite ready to go this far, but I think the quiet majority, is getting very tired of being the victims of crime, only to see the criminals not having to pay for their crimes, even when they get caught.
Not all of our youth are out doing stupid things. I know a large number in our community that have great plans for the future and will be a benefit to society. Unfortunately, we seem to be hearing about more and more youth like the one in the article. I am kind of curious though, who was supervising this young man? Where did the vehicle come from? And most importantly, were the guns registered?
3Cents,If the gun was registerd do you really think that would have made a difference!? The numbers are in, the firearm registry did nothing to prevent this kind of thing from happening. Tougher sentences are what is needed in this country not a piece of paper with your guns serial number on it!Dont get me started... Hats off to the officers who noticed the vehicle in the first place.
"Tougher sentences are what is needed in this country not a piece of paper with your guns serial number on it!Dont get me started..." No kidding.
I agree, the registry has been a waste.
metalman.
A South American city had "death squads". But we are above that.
