Dawson Creek-   RCMP investigators are confirming that they have received a suspicious letter referencing Encana's industrial activity in the Dawson Creek area.

“The Dawson Creek RCMP Detachment is in possession of a letter which was sent to a local newspaper in Dawson Creek yesterday,” says Sgt. Rob Vermeulen, RCMP Media Relations Officer. “At this point in time we will not speculate whether this is authentic.”

Three previous letters have been received by local media, including one which was determined to be a hoax. The current letter contains no specific threat or timeline.

“When you have a letter that threatens some sort of action, whether it is a hoax or not, we take it very seriously. Our primary concern remains the safety of the public. We would hope that the person or persons responsible share our concern for public safety,” says Sgt. Vermeulen.

Yikes!! I bet the Encana folks are were glad to see that...NOT! If the same people responsible for the bombings wrote this letter, then we allready know they don't fool around! And with the resouces that Encana has... you gotta be carfull when you poke the bear! I just dont see this ending in a nice way!!
You know, its not just Encana, all the petroleum companies should start a war chest to fight these vigilantes. If they stick together, they want to divide and conquer. In fact, I think this is going to the point of national security issues. Bring in the army, and make it open season on these vigilantes.
I will be working in the area this summer. Hopefully nothing happens.

I'm not condoning the actions of this terrorist group but it is really easy to see why they are getting so annoyed. They're punching so many holes in the ground up there and they are still really close to people's homes IMO. I don't understand why they need to be drilling so close to residences when they could be focusing on more exploration and drilling out in the wilderness. There is plenty of natural gas up there and the majority of it is nowhere near any houses or farms.
The person or group wants all drilling activity to stop, regardless of location. Whevever they drill, somebody somewhere will be annoyed.

Hopefully they catch whoever is doing this.
I have a place on the alaska highway I can see why these people are so mad not that i agree with what there doing becuse it is wrong but i have never met a more rude pushey group then those big oil companys they do what they want and if you try to get help from them or have a problem thay are not helpfull they drive up my road 100km an hour its a 60 zone thay own the road thay do no repairs to it just run it into the ground its very dangerous somone will get hurt and i dont no if that will slow them down they will push you in the ditch and keep driving time is money i guess what do you do.
