Prince George, B.C. – A known child sexual offender who had wandered away from his Vancouver half way house, has been found near McBride.
The Vancouver Police Department had issued a release and a photo of Gerald McLean on April 15th after he failed to return to his halfway house in Vancouver. Staying at the half way house was a condition of his parole.

RCMP in McBride received 2 calls about the possible whereabouts of McLean saying he may have been  staying on an undeveloped property in Dome Creek, BC, approx 1 hour west of McBride.

Two  officers from the McBride RCMP Detachment went to the Dome Creek area on the weekend , and found evidence to suggest McLean had set up camp on the property.

The officers  conducted a brief search of the area surrounding the camp and located McLean on a roadway. McLean is alleged to have been in possession of a rifle, which he is not allowed to have. He was taken into custody without incident and was immediately transferred to the Prince George Regional Correctional Center where he is awaiting a return to the Vancouver area.

A report to Crown Council will be forwarded shortly with respect to possible charges related to the firearm.

someone in mcbride should of just killed the goof
The parole board that released him early should be fired for gross negligence.

Actually if a released criminal commits a crime, I think they should be held liable, as it was their actions that allowed the criminal to reoffend, and thus you should be allowed to sue them, for the suffering you have to endure due to their inadequate job performance.
"Actually if a released criminal commits a crime, I think they should be held liable"

Nice thought, but if that were the case, nobody would ever get released, and nobody would get involved in parole boards.

That being said, it sickens me to see what kind of scum pass through our halfway houses.
If they knew they'd never get released, maybe they wouldn't commit the crime.
No folks around McBride have access to a "wide oak tree"?
Wow, he sure found access to a gun quickly. And why Dome Creek? from Vancouver? I cringe to think of what could have happened from point A to point B. This person should never be free. Throw away the key....

It would be horribly ironic to end up imprisoned for life because you solved a serious problem for society. Such is law, but would you have it any other way?
metalman.
Makes one wonder who's out there we don't know about....who just wandered away...released too early...should never be released!
"imprisoned fer life?" "Life" is 8 years? Or even less if you feign sorrow and remorse. Or claim yer a loonie and then you get a home in a funny farm til you can convince the "sane" people you ain't a loon anymore. Big circle. Would be nice to have a jury "of peers". But then again, we are civilized, aren't we?
