"Holly"  and her human friend Kathi Travers, join  Ann Gough and "Tia" as Mayor Dan Rogers  officially proclaims May as Be Kind to Animals month
Prince George, B.C. – Consider it “game on”!
The City of Prince George has officially challenged the City of Kamloops to see which community can raise the most amount of money for its SPCA branch.
The challenge will last for the full month of May which is “Be Kind to Animals” month.

Prince George Mayor Dan Rogers issued the challenge this hour   along with Ann Gough, the Manager of the North Cariboo Branch of the SPCA here in Prince George.  The goal is to raise $40 thousand dollars.  The city that loses the challenge must have its Mayor do some volunteer work at  that City's SPCA.

"Last year we had more than 2,600 animals come through our doors" says Ann Gough, "This is our major fundraiser for the year, as we don't get any  government funding."

All of the money raised in the Prince George region will stay in this region.

I think the dog representing us, is a bit overweight.
It' the camera lens the picture was taken with. :-)
Possibly, the poster is at an angle. ;-)
Shouldn't everyday and every month be "kind to animals"? I think this challenge is fantastic and you can bet your bottom $ that I'm going to double my $28/month donation this month! I would love to be an SPCA investigator but i would likely end up in jail for assault.
It looks like a bulldog and I think they are rather large, wide dogs...are you thinking that if they took a picture of a dog that has just been rescued and is still imaciated it would have a bigger impact?

I'll donate money to this good cause. I like it when I can donate money that does good like this and stays in our community. Can't go wrong donating to the SPCA IMO.
You could always donate to the Salvation Army to help people out too. A lot of people pay more attention to and spend more money on animals than they do humans.
duffer, the SPCA gets no government funding at all and relies totally on donations from the public. They do a lot to help people as well as the animals.
Pets add to the quality of life for humans.
Yes, except when they won't accept certain kinds of food. Obviously they get money from some food companies.

And my quaality of life is really added to when the dogs all around the neighborhood wake me up in the middle of the night with their incessant barking.
Call the city and they will talk to the owners of these barking dogs and give them a warning, the next time it's a fine - it's not the dogs fault...it's the owners. And if you want to donate to the salvation army fly at er', I chose to donate to the spca and the world wildlife fund. I can't afford to donate to all good causes so I chose animals, I actually like animals better than most humans.
