Prince George, B.C. - The Prince George Cougars traded their 2010 second round WHL Bantam Draft pick, 23rd overall, to the Kelowna Rockets for the Rockets 2010 second round selection, 31st overall. The Cougars also receive two fifth round selections from the Rockets in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft, the 97th and 107th overall picks.
With their first pick in the third round of the Draft, the Cougars selected goaltender Brett Zarowny of Edmonton, Alberta. Zarowny is the 45th overall selection of the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.
Zarowny, who stands 6’0” and weighs 160 pounds, played this past season for the Knights of Columbus Bantam AAA team, posting a 10-7-0 record in 22 games, with a 3.33 goals against average and a 90.0 save percentage. Zarowny becomes the highest drafted goaltender ever selected by the Prince George Cougars at the WHL Bantam draft.
“Brett is one of the top goalies in the draft,” said Cougars Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Personnel Wade Klippenstein. “He’s a guy that had pretty good numbers on a weaker team. He could be a great goalie in the future and we liked many things about him.”

The Cougars also chose forward Jarrett Fontaine of Humboldt, Saskatchewan in the third round, 52nd overall of the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.
Fontaine, a 5’5”, 140 pound centre, played for the Humboldt Bantam Broncos where he scored 61 goals and added 41 assists for 102 points in the 2009-10 season. Fontaine was a teammate this past season with the Cougars second pick in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft, Jordan Tkatch.
“He’s the best small player in the draft,” said Cougars Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Personnel Wade Klippenstein. “He is very highly skilled and we’re very excited to add Jarrett. He’s a very dynamic player and the way the game is being played in the Western Hockey League these days will make him a very good WHL player.”
