Charges Laid in Pedestrian Hit Case

Prince George, B.C.-  The man accused  of hitting a pedestrian with a pick up truck yesterday  has  been officially charged.

46 year old Gordon Kerr of Prince George has been charged with attempted murder and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

Meantime, the 29 year old man who was struck  on  West Central near Grama's Inn yesterday morning, remains in critical condition in  Vancouver General Hospital.

He hit the guy on purpose?!? Thats sick. I hope the guy recovers fully.
Or did he drive away after hitting the person by accident. I hope its the later... that's a message that should be sent when that happens... even if the sentence is light. I would think its the later with the additional charge of negligence.
Criminal negligence, manslaughter, etc. would be normal under such circumstances.

Attempted murder means intent. That means driving the person down on purpose. After a fight? Road rage?

"In order for a person to be found guilty of attempted murder the government must prove:
First, acting deliberately and intentionally or recklessly with extreme disregard for human life, the person attempted to kill someone; and the person did something that was a substantial step toward committing the crime."
Attempted murder? Methinks that's a stretch. Seeing as how it was used in 100 Mile House a few years ago concerning Mounties being shot at. But then again any lawyer fresh from the "bar" can doctor that phrase down to mischief. We will see.
