Mud River Hill Scene of Numerous Crashes

Prince George, B.C.- Highway 16 through the Mud  River Hill was a mess  late this afternoon as  the hail and snow slicked the roadway.  Drivers were caught off guard  and  slipped and slid out of control.

RCMP report  there were several crashes but only one that resulted in anyone being hurt when a vehicle went over the embankment.  The extent of the injury is not known at this time.

Police say the highway is o.k. now.

It makes one wonder about the law about being fined if you have snow tires on after April 30th.
Correction: S/B "Studded" snow tires
Studs help on ice, but it doesn't sound like the problem today was with sheet ice. It sounds like the problem was a wet, slushy road.
And once again, people driving too fast for the conditions.
Once about 3 years ago,I was heading up the Mud river Hill and met 2 cars and truck coming down sideways and completely out of control.
I got around all 3 of them,but that was a little bit hairy!
My wife almost wet her pants!
Another case of people driving much to fast for the conditions!
