It's funny how people are harping on about those four words while ignoring the rest of her words. What she said actually made a lot of sense.

I not sure I'm coding the link properly. My kingdom for a preview button.

What a pathetic person! Time to do a little house cleaning of the Upper House!

Using the expression she did is offensive. Not because of the actual word, I've used it myself from time to time, but because of the context. That expression is used when someone wants to be "in you're face", dominant, strongly aggressive, insulting, etc.. If they simply want to suggest that people drop an issue they say "please, drop that issue", i.e. they are not offensive. She could have conveyed her message much more simply that way, and would not have had everyone focus on her arrogance.
I wish we had more people that had strong convictions like her in politics. If we disagree we vote them out, and if we agree we vote them in. The only problem I see is that the senators aren't voted on.

As for the context of what she was saying... I couldn't agree more with her. She is disgusted with the people that support killing babies and I put myself in that camp as well, so good for her for standing up for the unborn I say... and to those who want to tear her down for that then they deserve the treatment she gave them as far as I'm concerned.
Exactly.
I agree with you Eagleone. I want politicians who say what they mean and mean what they say. Leave the political correctness for the progressives who think you can pick up a turd by the clean end.
Why should we fund abortions in another country?
The same people who whine constantly about not funding this and that are the same whiners that complain about taxes.
If we don't stand for some fiscal responsibility we will end up like Greece, Spain, Portugal or God Forbid the United States.
"...so good for her for standing up for the unborn I say... "

Using foul language, of course! Nice new standard she is trying to set for the Senators!

Pathetic and what a wonderful example for kids who are supposed to get guidance for ethics and good behaviour from adults!

Nice try to muddle up the two issues - her foul mouth and the serious issue of abortion.

The point isn't the language or her "strong convictions" (last time I heard a comment start with "Shut the Fuck UP" and end with "I hope", faith wasn't particularly inspired. This is a FREE country, and as such we, as women, as citizens, as more than 50% of the population, have every right to react as we have and to continue to react this way. That's what freedom means. And as far an protecting the unborn children, would you rather see your 15 and 16 year old girls in back alleys? or worse, with coat hangers, taking matters into their own hands again? What's wrong with you people??
No I'd rather people were responsible for their own behaviors. If they have to use a coat hanger, than they should be charged with something appropriate for taking the life of a defenseless soul. The throw away society has gone to far when we can trivialize the life of an unborn with hypotheticals about worst case scenarios for someone that is acting completely inappropriate for human decency. If people want to fund these things, than way do public tax dollars have to be involved... can't they find ways to kill babies with their own funds?
I carefully examined the cartoon again! First of all, it's funny! Secondly, it is about a member of the sober Upper Chamber of Canada spouting off with rude language! Thirdly, nowhere do I see any reference to abortion!

Maybe it should have shown a bar of soap, a bucket of water and a big toilet brush which she could use to wash her dirty mouth!
The context of her comments were that the Senate supports women's issues and wants to help, but will not fund abortions in foreign countries. The pro abortion crowd slandered her for not 'going all the way' as its a zero sum game for them and abortion is all that matters. The good senator came back with what I would say is the only appropriate response for someone that is asked to go against their very values.

Nothing can be more sobering than being direct about what you mean and leaving no ambiguity as to where you stand. She should be applauded for her courage IMO. Politics shouldn't be about being nice and compromising core values... that's what voting results are for. For politicians its better if we all know exactly where they stand, so that we can have an informed vote when we make our own personal compromises in who we will support.

The only problem I see here is that we don't get to vote on Senators. Probably the only reason why she can speak her mind on this issue though... catch 22 I guess.
Your standards are obviously not the same as mine.

You can have her.
