Prince George, B.C.- Over the next year, youth in the Prince George area can expect a “pat on the back” from the RCMP, RCMP Auxiliary, Community Policing and Community Safety Officers.

Ten thousand tRST cards have been made available through a partnership with the YMCA and McDonalds.

What is a tRST card?

It stands for the Right STuff.

One part of the card has useful contact information which can be kept, the second part of the card is a coupon for either a free large McDonald’s sandwich, or a free drop-in pass for the Family “Y”.

Community Policing recognizes there are many young people in the community who deserve a pat on the back.  Constable Carissa Hornoi says the tRST cards are a way of delivering that praise “We believe in our local youth and the tRST cards are a way for the RCMP and Community Policing to positively reach out and say thanks for making an effort, we appreciate it.”

Bribe children to be good? Whatever yer reasoning when it comes to raising children in "our village", I guess.
This is a very good thing. It gives the police the opportunity to approach young people in a non-threatening manner and providing a positive experience with them.

This is very similar to what happened at my kid's school a few years ago. I believe Bryan Pepper, the current School superintendent, was the principal at Glenview Elementary and the when a student was observed doing a good thing like picking up litter or helping a younger student, they were rewarded with a little coupon.

It is called positive reinforcement. Would you rather their only rewards are from destructive behaviors?
Kids aren't taken to the "woodshed" anymore. It is now called "an attitude adjustment centre".
put down the candy and let the little kids go
