Prince George, B.C.- The fire danger rating in the Prince George Fire Centre is now rated as high in some areas so once again there is a reminder for people to exercise caution when conducting any open burning.
Minister of Forests and Range, Pat Bell, says nearly half of all wildfires are the result of careless human behaviour “If we catch people being careless or causing fires, we will aggressively pursue penalties for those responsible. There’s too much at risk to tolerate negligent behaviour.”
Since April 1, Prince George Fire Centre crews have responded to 80 fires, 79 of which were human-caused.
