Prince George, B.C. - The Regional District of Fraser Fort George meets today and will receive a report from the Rural Schools Committee. The Committee has been working with School District 57 to find ways to keep the Salmon Valley and Dunster schools open. Three other rural school have been spared closure this year, but may face closure in the future if the School District’s funding and falling enrolment issues continue.
Also on the agenda, the Environment and Parks standing committee will meet to examine the draft of the Regional Parks Plan. The draft is the result of a survey and series of open houses held last fall to gather public feedback for the development of a parks plan.
The Regional District Board will be asked to deny an application for a non agricultural use on agricultural land. This is the application which proposes a tourism site on Chief Lake Road with 20 cabins.
The issue of the spreading of bio-solids on a Red Rock property will also come forward in the form of a letter from the city of Prince George. The letter details a recent meeting with concerned residents of Red Rock.
