Teachers across the province hit the pavement for two weeks in October
The President of the Prince George District Teachers Association wants a local process mirroring the provincial education roundtable discussions going on between the Liberal government and B.C. teachers.
Karen MacKay is calling on the school board to strike a committee to look at working and learning conditions within School District 57.
MacKay says she would like to see the committee -- comprised of school district officials, teachers, other labour partners, parents and students -- look at the issues affecting conditions in the classroom. She says the idea was raised during the November municipal election and all candidates expressed an interest.
At the first full school board meeting last Tuesday, MacKay raised the issue during the public input portion, but trustees are not obligated to respond and none did. The PGDTA President says she will not let the issue die.
