Prince George, B.C. - Another step forward for the Mount Milligan Mine.

Robert Pease, the  President and CEO of Terrane Metals, the owner of the mine, says some of the contracts to buy equipment for the project have been finalized.

The primary crusher, SAG mill, two ball mills and other associated process plant equipment will be supplied by Metso.

ABB Switzerland Ltd will supply process plant drive motors for the SAG mill and ball mills. Delivery is expected in the 4th quarter of 2011.

Siemens Canada Limited is contracted to supply the three main transformers for the mine-site substation. They are expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2011.

These items require a long lead time for delivery. The purchase orders placed for process plant and power supply equipment account for about 12% of the capital cost of the mine, and are within budget and on schedule.

Mt. Milligan will be a conventional truck-shovel open pit mine  that will  provide about 400 direct permanent jobs and significant long-term economic benefits for the region.   At the peak of construction, the project is expected to create 700 jobs The mine is expected to be in operation in 2012.

Great news for the whole area, even B.C.'s
so called "northern capital". Wonder why the lieberal spinners aren't commenting. Too busy sulking cause the anti-hst petition is going well?
I think Ft St James, citizens looking for work are going to have to start speaking up.

Notice that the Mcleod Lake Indian band is for it, and Ft St James area Indian band is against it......

So where is Terrane going to get its workers from.
He Spoke. The Kemess Mine will be closing down next fall and will be laying off approx 300 workers in the McCleod Lake, MacKenzie area, no doubt these miners, etc; will go to work for Mt Milligan.

Will these orders be built in Prince George? or outside?
He Spoke, Fort St James citizens are very onboard with this project, and have been quite vocally supportive. It is the Nakazdli band that is opposed, not to be mistaken for the community of Fort St James.
