Mackenzie, B.C.- The start up date for the former Pope and Talbot/ Worthington pulp mill in Mackenzie has been set as August 1st.

That date is earlier than expected, and hinges on a fibre deal being solidified.

There is also a report that Paper Excellence, the Dutch-based holding company of Sinar Mas/Asia Pulp and Paper (APP) is going to invest about $30 million dollars to convert the plant’s output to 100% NSBK rather than a split with sawdust pulp.

The report indicates the push to full NBSK production is because Sinar Mas is focusing on  value added papers.

Go for it, hope the contractors get paid quickly
Boom time for McKenzie!!!!
maybe use rustad sawmill for chip and hog or sawdust fuel, will create more jobs for p.g.
The mill has 2 digesters one for chips the other for sawdust. Both will run and the pulp from both will be blended to-gether at the bleach plant and the machine will run one product. 1.8 to 2mm fibre length instead of two.sawdust at 1.5mm and chips at 2.4mm fibre length
This is a huge undertaking to restart this mill. Fibre Supply, Chemical Supply, Rail car supply and rates, Manning, Credit with suppliers, Markets for the pulp, Ocean Freight, and Port handling etc;. It will take a huge outlay of capital, especially if they expect to have it up and running by August 1st.

Rick Berry would know better than most of us it an August 1st start up is reasonable.
