Prince George, B.C.- The Downtown Busines Improvement Association  of Prince George, has  filled the three seats  which were vacated Friday by  three members of the Board.  Just who   has been selected to fill the gaps won't be known until President of the DBIA, Hugh Nicholson, decides to release that information.

Heading into  a private meeting this morning  to  start  a two day workshop on the  downtown, Nicholson  said three  new people were selected on the weekend "It has to be ratified by the Board, so  their names will be  put forth this morning." It is not clear who  on the Board  made the selection. Treasurer for the DBIA Dan McLaren  told Opinion 250 he did not know  how the three seats would be filled "This is our  first meeting  since all that ( the resignations) happened" said McLaren.

Under the DBIA's constitution, the Directors can, ( under  section 30 of the bylaws) "and from time to time, appoint a member as a Director to fill a vacancy on the Directors, provided that the Director so appointed holds office only until the conclusion of the next annual general meeting.  The  appointed Director is eligible for election at that meeting."

Heading into the private meeting of the Board of Directors this morning,  the Treasurer, Dan McLaren, advised Opinion250 there would be nothing discussed that  was not open to the public, however,  when the DBIA President arrived on scene, that "permission" changed and Opinion 250 was advised   the meeting was a dry run through of the events planned for tomorrow,  and as such, members of the public were not invited to  stay.

The  meeting room was  lined with  huge  architectural renderings of buildings of campuses, and  student housing and  other developments ,  which  the DBIA  is now  suggesting  should be the  focus  for  downtown.  When  DBIA Treasurer Dan McLaren, who is the head of  Commonwealth Financial ( also  the head of Commonwealth Health and Commonwealth Campuses Inc) was asked if this was not  just a previous Commonwealth presentation which has  just had the DBIA  logo inserted where the Commonwealth logo  used to be,  he replied "I disagree with  that."  Yet,  there was one display board  not included in the  presentation  which   carried the  words "Commonwealth  Gardens".

The  media have been invited to a session that is to start at 1:30 .

Let the games begin!!!!!
I wonder if they are investors in McLarens firm?
Well. Well. Well. The chickens have come home to roost!!!! Kirk Gable was in the pocket of the mayor and council and now the MacLaren group are a wild card off on their own agenda. The editor of the citizen is in a real conflict of interest. How can he report in an unbiased way on the goings on of the DBIA? Ben stay on top of this because there is more to this story than meets the eye. How many of the current directors are renting or own properties that are levy exempt? This whole thing smells!!!!!
ravinggrannie,

conflict of interest? well as I view this page I see an add for Commonwealth Finacial just to the right of where I am typing, a company owned by Mr McLaren. Its seems he knows how to wedge his foot into any door he likes.
