Wiliams Lake, B.C.-  Another grow op has been busted in a rural region.  This time, it was  members of the Williams Lake RCMP General Investigation Section and the North District Drug Section which made the bust.

Officers attended to a rural property in the Spokin Lake area Friday armed with search warrant . Discovered was a very large and sophisticated indoor marihuana growing farm.

The 9,000 plants were housed in an outbuilding built specifically for this purpose.  Officers also  seized related growing equipment including two large diesel generators. Two large 1,500 gallon tanks fueled these engines. The equipment is estimated to be worth approximately half a million dollars.

Five adult males with identification linking them to the Lower Mainland were arrested without incident at this location and will be facing charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

RCMP say this grow operation  is likely the most sophisticated grow seen in recent times in the Williams Lake area.

what a waste of time, effort and money. legalize marijuana instead of wasting precious resources on policing this matter. it will be interesting to see what happens if california legalizes marijuana next year. perhaps stephen harper can ask for sanctions through the UN security council or Dick Harris can be his special envoy to deal with the matter. might be too much work for dick tho. 6 term mp with no responsibilities. nice gig if u can get it.
Waste of time? I think not. It makes me smile to picture these low lifes explaining the loss to their "bosses". Keep up the good work RCMP.
Way to go boys. Shut these low lifes down.
legalize and let the government legislate rather the let the criminal do it.
Why be so hypocritical?
Let's criminalize tobacco and booze; the big time killers out there in the real world!
you can't save anyone from their decision to use booze, tobacco etc.. etc... - hence the never ending demand. Decriminalize it all and use the prosecution money to warn people of the health consequences then help pick up the pieces of an addicted life. Personal responsibility is the only hope.
Pot. The only "growth" industry in BC. We are ruled by asses.
Hood Rich. Dick Harris got 22,000 votes in the last election. He beat his nearest opponent (NDP) by 12,000 votes. So it would seem that the majority of voters in his riding have no problem with him. Whats your problem??

The only thing stopping you from running for this position would be Fear of losing, No support from the electorate, and of course not being able to get a nomination. Other than that your free to have a run at it.

Shut down all the grow ops. Only pot heads support legalizing Mary Jo. They should be the last to be allowed to make a decision, because their thought process's are all fogged up.

The really bad thing about these grow ops?
This is organized crime from the lower mainland in many cases, and if you happened to find one by accident and they saw you...they would likely blow you right out of your socks.
They would quickly make you disappear.
Bet on it, and hope you never find one when someone is around to see you do it.
Bang.
This is not some dude with a few plants in his garage.
Whole different ballgame.
Many of them have links to asian gangs and they are NOT nice people.
If people were allowed to grow even 2 or 3 plants for their own use, would it make a difference?
I don't know, but I do know busting these big plantations is a good thing!
Good work!
No problem if Joe next door grows a few plants for personal consumption or to sell to his buddies, but this is NOT the same thing. This is NOT small time. This is organized crime and I, for one, am thrilled whenever I hear that their operations have been busted. I, too get a kick out of the thought of these thugs having to explain themselves to their bosses. Good luck with that!!!
Canadians Support Marijuana Legalization
June 28, 2007

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many adults in Canada believe the consumption of cannabis should be permitted by law, according to a poll by Angus Reid Strategies. 55 per cent of respondents think marijuana should be legalized in the country, but less than 10 per cent agree with authorizing the consumption of five other illegal drugs.

estimated $6 billion dollars production per year
more than lumber, pulp and beef, combined
thanks to the RCMP for yet another job well done.
Amen to those thoughts, Thunder. Those who chose to 'play' with the big boys should know the rules going in. These people are not constrained or inhibited by little issues such as the law of the land.
