Prince George, BC-  Although still plagued with air quality advisories when there is an inversion, and concerns about formaldehyde in certain neighbourhoods, the City of Prince George  has been awarded a 2010 Clean Air Day Award by the Clean Air Day (CAD) Advisory Committee.

The Advisory Committee established the Clean Air Day Awards in 2006 to celebrate outstanding contributions to clean air issues in Canada. This year, the City of Prince George was recognized for “Outstanding Public Education and Outreach” for its Clean Air Ambassador program.

The City of Prince George created the Clean Air Ambassador pilot project in recognition of air quality issues in Prince George. The Clean Air Ambassador engaged the community in face-to-face public education focusing on residential and commercial wood burning issues. The Clean Air Ambassador played an integral role in gaining public support for the City’s Clean Air Bylaw through education and awareness initiatives.

“This recognition belongs to all those in the community that are working so hard to raise awareness around air quality,” said Mayor Dan Rogers. “Protecting, preserving, and improving our air is a core focus for the City. We are committed to achieve positive improvements to air quality by collaborating with community partners and senior levels of government.”

How convienent, that the clean air fairy played such a pivotal role. I would have preferred that money spent on roads.

But, hey, that's one mans opinion.
"Although still plagued with air quality advisories when there is an inversion, and concerns about formaldehyde in certain neighbourhoods"

Totally unimportant. The important thing is to get the message out that the wood people ARE NOT BURNING could cause health problems.
Huh?
