100 Mile House- Police believe a home invasion on Heller Road near 100 Mile house on Sunday, June 6th,  was the work of five people trying to Rip Off a grow op.

Police were called to a home after nearby residents heard glass breaking and people yelling. When police arrived they were met by two occupants of the home. They were given vague descriptions of five men, two white and two possibly being African- Canadian who had come to the home wielding machetes.

As police searched the area to ensure that no one remained, then took the two into custody while they obtained a search warrant on the home.

The two occupants of the residence were detained while more resources, including the Police Dog Service were brought in to look for the individuals who had been involved. After an extensive search, no suspects were located.

The occupants of the residence were taken to 100 Mile House Detachment and a search warrant was obtained for the residence.

In all, 1973 marijuana plants in various stages of production were seized along with marijuana production equipment. Charges of Production of Marijuana and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking are being recommended to Crown Counsel against a male and female from the Lower Mainland. If approved, first appearance in Court is scheduled for September.

This incident is believed to be an attempted “grow rip” where individuals use violence or the threat of violence to steal illegally grown marijuana.

The investigation into this matter is continuing. Anyone having information about this incident is asked to contact the 100 Mile police.
