Jim has a career spanning more than 20 years in a variety of roles and responsibilities. He has held successively more responsible positions in military and defense contracting, commercial software development, and training and consulting. He has worked in the QA role, and has acted as team lead, project manager, and director in the past 10 years. Jim has been involved with the BCIT Bachelor of Technology program and mentored students at SFU Surrey, acts as a mentor in the Telus New Ventures BC competition, and has been involved with the Vancouver Board of Trade's Leaders of Tomorrow program and the Business Advisory Board of the Advanced Systems Institute of BC.

Jim has wide experience in a number of key technical areas that are essential for the successful leadership of technical teams. Project management, software estimation, quality assurance and testing, peer reviews, and requirements management are all areas that Jim has a demonstrated expertise in. He has provided training and mentoring in all these areas, both publicly and onsite, with clients across North America.

In addition, Jim has personally worked with more than 40 organizations in the past 6 years with a goal of reducing business inefficiencies. An integral part of this effort has been a focus on techniques for measurement of productivity gains and ROI for refined development and management practices.
