Prince George, B.C.- Wireless internet service will be available in some more rural communities this fall.

Shelley-Glen and Shelley as well as  Faulder, the Gantahaz Subdivision, Palling and Wilson Landing are among the communities in the final design and engineering stages for wireless broadband service from ABC Communications..

It is expected the projects will be competed by November of this year.

In the past, wireless service to these areas was very difficult because of high tree lines and low valleys.

Earlier this year, ABC launched new high- speed networks in Ness Lake, Nukko Lake, West Lake and Willow River / Giscome.

Maybe when they let you download more than 5 gigs a month it will be worthwhile. Until then it's not much better than browsing on a smartphone.
Even Hwy16 gives you 10g a month for $45 on the Wireless and for all the Telus Haters, I wish I had Telus getting 60g for much less and faster Speeds, but thats the breaks living in the Sticks, also had to buy my on Microwave Radio for 250, saved Money by installing it myself.
Bell has a wireless service in many other cities than Prince George, and it's a much better plan. Considering the government has kicked in some funds you'd think ABC could make it worthwhile.
I would settle for something more then dial up when are they going to include Red Rock?
From a good Source, Telus will never give us living outside of Towns and Cities "DSL" unless the Crtc forces there Hand, like they done with Partylines but the Internet is a non Tariff Service, we wont have much luck .
The thing with DSL is that technically speaking it has to be no more than 8km I think from a hub. So wireless is definately the way to go for rural areas. However ABC and the cell companies have us by the short hairs so they can charge whatever they want.
is that for the bear lake area, seems like we are living in caveman age, still without cell phone coverage wants we leave the highway to canfors polar d
