Prince George, B.C.- Seven people had to be rescued from the Neckako River early this morning.

Shortly before 1:30 this morning, Prince George Fire Rescue received a report of a group of people, including minors, stranded on an island in the Nechako River, across from Cottonwood Island Park.

Their boat had apparently run aground.

They had be stranded for an undetermined length of time, and hypothermia was becoming a concern.

Two crews responded, established the group's location and determined a boat would be required for the rescue.

Local resourses along with Prince George Search and Rescue provided a primary rescue boat and a backup craft.

Accompanied by two Fire Rescue Swiftwater team members, the primary boat rescued all seven, all of whom were adults.

I bet they even had one of those useless boat licenses too! What a cash grab joke that is. A whole lot of sea going rules for guys in a river boat.
Excellent!
I can always hear a happy ending!
I just can't resist commenting; If the authorities would only dredge the confluence of the rivers in the interest of flood control, a positive side effect would be a navigable
route. Instead of having the water fan out in every direction like it does now, leaving a whole lot of shallows, we would, I presume, have a single deeper channel.
Glad to hear all were rescued.
