Prince George, B.C.-  Dozens of people who lined the  Old Cariboo Highway and who  sat  at the  Prince George Airport were disappointed to hear the Italian Air Force  "Tornado" jet  will not be arriving today as planned.

The fighter jet was to land in Prince Geoge this morning for a refuelling, while on its way to  Alaska and the Yukon for a military exercise.

That  visit has now been postponed until some time next week.  The exact time of arrival next week  has yet to be determined, but Opinion250 will  advise you of the  new date and time.

Sorry folks,  we sat at the airport for  two hours hoping to  get some photos for you....and we will do it again next week when the jet's visit  is re-scheduled.

Seems to me we went throught this delay thing with the last jet that came from asia?
wonder if maybe they are holding off for a better deal?
I sure do miss the airshow, maybe we can convince Vanderhoof to do it again.
This plane is a dollar short and a day late.

I heard somewhere that Quesnel is having an Airshow this summer. You might want to check that out He Spoke.
He Spoke. The Quesnel Airshow is called Skyfest 2010. You can look it up in your computer.

Problem is, it was held on June 5th. So you can plan for next year. There website gives some indication of the planes participating.

Have a nice day.
considering they are fueling up in Cold Lake , Alberta, and going to alaska, and they can fly that distance with ease...I still think our local airport is making it finacially beneficial to land here....
pretty bad when airplanes have to be paid to land here.....
I think people are reading way to much into this. According to the stats listed on wikipedia in combat mode the Tornado has a range of only 1400 km. Since it's going to Alaska for a military exercise it think its safe to assume it will be configured that way. They would have make possibly 2 stops to reach Alaska. No hidden meaning or agenda. Just a plane that gets about a good of mileage as my pickup, and that's pretty damn bad.
With external tanks that aircraft can go over 2600 miles..so if they fill with less expensive fuel in Alberta and they should be able to make alaska...why stop at little old PG...unless?
