Ft Liard -The search  for a Fort Liard man who fell out of a boat on Sunday May 30, has ended with the recovery of his body about 16 kilometers  south of Ft Liard.

The RCMP Fort Liard Detachment received a call for service on May 30th that a resident of Fort Liard was at his bush camp when he had fallen out of his boat on the Liard River sometime earlier on Sunday.

The bush camp was located approximately 36 kilometers south of the NWT / British Columbia border.

The 66 year old man was last seen about noon struggling in the water by his spouse who was the only person to see this incident from shore and was able to seek help only by notifying a passing boater about 5:00 PM who was later able to notify the authorities.

His body was discovered by a local boater who notified police.
