If Even one Person Recovers The Work Should Be Acknowleded
By Ben Meisner
Watching five year old girls eyes light up as she hooks onto a fish has special meaning and no were was it more apparent than at Wood Wheaton’s Sales lot in Prince George on the weekend.
The live trout were part of a very well organized effort on the part of Tom Sentes and Craig Wood to raise some money for the Baldy Hughes recovery center.
Now it isn’t very sexy to be raising money for such a cause, and the group rose over $5,000 for the day.
On the other hand think about it for a moment. If Baldy Hughes can get even one person off dependency, they have accomplished a feat that few people will achieve in their lives. Taking someone who is down and out and within a few short months watching them recover and return to society. No it may not be the kind of fund raiser that many people would like to wrap their hands around, and that is why it is more important that Sentes, who was the driving man behind the effort, receive some accolades for his efforts.
The program that he and Wood Wheaton put together not only warmed the hearts of a lot of kids who showed up at 7am. To try their hand at catching a live trout, it showed a giving attitude.
Baldy Hughes should be very honoured to have this group of people on their team they showed that community spirit takes many shapes and forms.
