Prince George, B.C. –School District 57 Board of Trustees will meet this evening and is expected to give final reading to the bylaw which sets the budget for the coming year.
The meeting is actually taking place in McBride  but will be  webcast and will be available to be viewed on a larger screen at the School District 57 offices on Ferry Avenue as of 7:00 this evening.
One other item on the agenda is the 2008-2009 report on behaviour  of students.  The report indicates there were 589 incidents of which 222 had to do with drugs, while 163 involved consensual fighting.

Can someone explain to me why the meeting is in Mcbride when the district office is in PG? Can someone then tell me how much it is costing for everyone attending to go to Mcbride and then webcast the meeting back to PG? I know if Im having trouble affording groceries for the family I dont take my wife on a trip to discuss the family budget.
The school board always does one meeting in one of the out of town locations, once a year. There are many benefits of having the administrators actually make it out to the areas they administer and see the effects of their actions.

There is no cost to the video / web conferencing as the school district already has the equipment in place for classroom usage.
The people in outlying areas have just as much right to attend a school board meeting as the rest of us. It is only one meeting a year and I commend the trusties for taking the time to travel to these communities.
I agree with lunarguy and Don Wilkins. Moreover, as things go, the cost isn't that great. Even assuming they don't want to drive back in the dark and spend the night in McBridge, what's the total cost for mileage for say three vehicles and motel rooms for the board and administrators? It should come to less than $2,000.
